Phreaking is by no means on its way out, it is seriously evolving though, just look at the modern changes in phones, and how phones get closer and closer to computers, it seems to me that phones will soon be powerful enough to hack computers, The other day I was thinking that if you were to hack somthing and have a recorder hooked up to your modem, would it be possible to dial back that computer and execute your hack using the sounds? I dont know. As for the text, I personally feel this generation (including myslef) is a bit lazy, and we want to continue or add on to other peoples work, we want to read what has been done and then complain because it doesn't work, the fact is, its up to us, to pave the way to the next gen of phreaking, or it will die.

Or. I could be complelty wrong. ::shrug::

Perhaps start to look into the current phone systems in the UK and write a doc about them, include links to online information etc? Once you know the basics you never know what you'll find.....

Theres a lot of old stuff on there (pre-2000) but it may give some good background material. I'll have a search about for some newer sites/documents.

Yes, UK phones would be an excellent addition to YAPL!

Although it is somewhat US based (No country field, cannot choose "N/A" for the state).

Wooo! I got shouts!

Yes yes, I'll be expanding to Canada shortly, I just need to code in the various provinces. Thats simple.

However, for phones that don't follow a NPA-NXX-XXXX format, the problem is a little more complex. But, I hope to add this, and a few other features in the next major revision of YAPL.

This will be somewhere in the next few months or so. I'm still working out bugs in 2.0. Give me a rest :)

Maybe I'll do some type of stopgap measure where the numbers can be free form. I have no idea... *thinks*

your welcome

chronic_c who was in the irc channel posted this if any one can help

<chronic_c> i'm a bit new to the whole world of payphones

and such and was curious on the phone itself

what does the unv, uni number mean?? also i'm

in quebec and noticed on a few phones around

here there's two different numbers

uni-702-9612-Que and unv-702-9812-ont i'm

guessing the last few letters mean the

province....but how come there are 'ont' phones

here in quebec?

anyone in London??

when I was about 14 I used to call one of the payphones in Picadilly Circus all the time, I'm sure the phones don't have the same number anymore but if if anyone could go by there and write down some payphone numbers, post or PM me I'd sure appreciate it :D
