4 posts in this topic

I have to ask cause I'm a newbie...

Say I scan a particular ip with a port scanner, when and if I find an open port, what is the best way to proceed?

It depends on the function that port is serving.

well, what was your goal in portscanning anyway? if you just wanted to learn how a portscan works and what it looks like, you are done.

I have an upcoming article on that subject also, but i cannot release it yet. :(

Lets say you port scan a IP.

and you find say ports 80,21,52

80-http (most likely a web server)

21-FTP (most likely a FTP server)

52-DNS (it's 52 or 53 that BIND usually runs on isn't it?)

:ninja:

Anyway, if you see an ftp server is running, try to make an ftp connection :)
