graphic cards

5 posts in this topic

I am helping my friend buying a computer, but I have a few questions about picking the graphic card:

1: Is there any chance the graphic card (radeon 9000series) will not fit the motherboard? (If you don't buy the graphic card with the computer)

2: If a game in the future says it require at least 256mb graphic card, will the 256mb version be able to run it smoothly but not the 128mb?

3: If there is two graphic cards the cheap Radeon 9600Pro 256mb and the more expensive 9600XT 128mb, ìs the XT version still better?

Hope you can survive my stupidity and thanks in advance.

PS: LOL I have a rank of 31337 :P

The mother board has to have an AGP slot

The card will be well outdated before any games need 256MB ram, go with 128

XT isn't really much new, some faster speeds, that's about it

make sure to get a dx9 card. all nvidia fx cards are dx9 cards (but the 5200's suck cock, don't get any of those) and i'm pretty sure the radeon 9600 and up are dx9 but i am not sure, i KNOW that the 9700 and up cards have to be dx9.

Yeah I know I should't go with 5200 of GeForce (hell just ordered a 5950 Ultra - since I was tired of my old one :D).

I know all GeForce FX cards are dx9 cards and I belive the Radeon 9000 serie is that too, but I'll check it out.

Thanks a lot for answering all my stupid questions :D
