Business with a 0xx number

7 posts in this topic

So this is kinda amazing. I was poking around in the 281, and for the hell of it, I tried getting a 105-type test from the tandem switch. So I dialed 281-003-1050, and wound up getting a PBX belonging to a business. This seems to work on 105x; maybe it actually was a 105-type test at one time that mapped over to a now reassigned directory number. But anyway, this is as weird as it gets! And hopefully, a sign that we have a new place to look for weird non-dialable goodies.

Do you think 003 is just translating to a dialable code?

It doesn't look like it. I found the number this translates to, and it's not even on the same switch, let alone homing on the same access tandem; 979-278-4095 . I tried a few other numbers as well, and none of them seem to be working.

Sometimes you can find an end office and long distance network that'll let you do this. I'm on one of the DMS-100s that won't let that slip by, so I've found the AT&T calling cards are one of the most consistent ways of calling them.

Also Google Voice is consistently working for me when trying to dial 0xx numbers.
