Macy's Tie Lines

3 posts in this topic

I have a list of tie lines for 46 Macy's stores. When I was at Macy's in December, I asked if they could check if any nearby stores had a pair of pants in my size. They printed a receipt that ended up being about 4 feet long (it would have been longer if it hadn't finished out the roll) with the availability at every Macy's store. The receipt also included the tie line number for every Macy's store.

The tie lines are in the form 8-170-598-4500 for the store in Indianapolis, and 8-130-037-4999 for the store in Burlington, MA, for example. I assume 8 gets you into a tie-line trunk. In some cases, the last 4 of the tie line are the same as the last 4 of the store number, which is also included on this receipt.

Since the thing is so long, I don't want to scan it unless someone wants it. Let me know if you've been dying to get your hands on this sort of thing.

Can't say I've been dying for such a thing, but it is interesting. If you have any other reason to scan, send me a copy!

Nice! Lemme know what you found, it'd be nice to compare notes. Someone sent me this a while back;

Here's an HTML version for those of you who think Excel is annoying;

Indeed 8 does give you a tieline trunk. It looks like someone wrote an article on this a while back (search for exploring tieline networks)
