MSN SPAM Invitations

5 posts in this topic

I have no idea why, but about a month ago I started receiving random invitations from people pretending to want to do cyber sex. This kind of spam through msn isn't a new thing, but this time I started receiving TONS of invitations, and now it's as worse as 5 times a day. The problem is that in order to stop it from happening, I need to first accept the invitation (to add as a contact, not cyber sex) and then block the person. I'm using amsn, I have no idea if other msn clients would be better suited at blocking unwanted invitations. It happens sometimes that I just add the person in order to block right after, but because of the weird email names I forget where it is in my contact list and only notice later when they come online. I noticed it quickly this morning, and went upfront, and now have the proof that it's a bot on the other end and not a human:

[02/13/10 09:52:51 ] Earlie : hi

[02/13/10 09:52:59 ] Aghaster : hi

[02/13/10 09:53:06 ] Earlie : hi how are you today?

[02/13/10 09:53:10 ] Aghaster : who are you?

[02/13/10 09:53:20 ] Earlie : my name is kaylee I'm doing great today I'm 21 yrs old how old are you?

[02/13/10 09:53:28 ] Aghaster : you're a bot aren't you?

[02/13/10 09:53:40 ] Aghaster : I'm being fucking spammed all days with tons of unwanted invitations

[02/13/10 09:53:44 ] Aghaster : go fuck yourself

[02/13/10 09:53:47 ] Aghaster : and no I don't want to cyber

[02/13/10 09:53:48 ] Earlie : listen hun, I am just about to start my webcam show with jen, come chat me there in my chat room? We can cyber, I will get naked if u do..lol!

Those replies are exactly the same as the previous such random "person" adding me.

Has anybody else experienced the same annoying problem as me? Does anybody know of a solution to avoid being flooded with this type of spam where there isn't really a spam filter yet?

I signed into MSN last year after not using it for a long time (at least 3 years) and got hit with a load of invites, all from spam bots so I feel your pain. Kinda interesting at first but after the 5th or so it got kinda annoying  I've never used it myself but if you're willing to switch to pidgin you could try this

What they are doing is eWhoring. Making you believe their real girls to get you to sign up to a dating site or porn site. They say its free, but it costs and you get rebilled.
