need software for sites ID'ing my computer

11 posts in this topic

I like to complete a couple of freebie offers on the net when I can find them and previously I would just clear my cookies and go on dial-up for a random IP address, but now it'll say, "We're sorry, you've already responded to this offer." I tried running Madmacs from Irongeek but I still get the same message. Something they're doing is more comprehensive than just checking the MAC Id and IP address. Could anyone recommend any freeware I could run. It has to be something w/o a lot of settings that I can just open and run like Adrian's Madmacs or I'll get lost, I know how to download software and clear my cookies and that's about it. Thanks for your help, Laura

I wrote a bot which fills out HTML forms, but if you changed IPs and cleared cookies then it won't work.

Are you sure? The form values (like delivery address) and everything were different?

Merry Crispness! hey jabzor, you still around?

I went thru the tutorial and it works but they still know it's my comp. Are there changes to my computer I should try?

Thanx in advance for any hints. from anyone that knows foxyproxy.

make sure the proxy isn't spilling your real ip address: www.ipchicken.com

If you need some anon proxies let me know I've got a shitload of elites.

thanx, well the tutorial says to use an ip checker which i do and the site shows the same number that's down in the right corner of the window when foxyproxy is enabled, so i think that's ok.

thanx for the offer, i have a site i use that's pretty reliable. when i was checking around i read that you should use a proxy outside your country and i've been using the US where i live. is that right? it doesn't seem like it should make any difference, but i'm always looking for things i might be doing wrong.

If you're running Firefox try this addon:

Better Privacy

They might be using some sort of flash cookie or something...just a thought

Yeah there should be more public information on them, there pretty sly.

NoScript can also black Flash cookies, it does by default IIRC.

To be honest I don't really like flash, apart from that it looks nice on the screen, lol.

other things are useragent, hostname of your actual computer (bobs-pc) and your external host name (127-0-0-1.comcast.net)

Thanks for that link.

At the bottom of that page is a wired article on flash cookies, for anyone interested.
