(ARCHIVE) some numbers

1,263 posts in this topic

I love the CBS feed 800-711-3408 and

Japanese verizon 800-711-3026

(I know these have already been posted, just saying that they're neat. I like watching cbs on tv on mute and listening on the phone :-) )

are there any other channel feeds on toll free numbers?

Good Question and it kinda sucks when Local programming is on. Anybody got a schedule for it?

703-666-0000 maybe a loop, maybe milliwatt it plays a high pitched tone and hangs up. I tried 666-0001 and it rings once and goes to silence for a while and then does a reorder.. 666-0002 is another high pitched noise that hangs up. 666-0003 *might* be a person; I tried and it rang 3 times and then I just hung up.

404-331-9999 - This is the US Department of Education. All of our agents are busy right now. Please hold on the line, and your call will be answered in the order received.

EDIT: 541-593-0015 - Picks up silently, and waits for DTMF. I don't know about the rest of you, but I hate it when things act all non-descript like this.

There is an awesome list of probably really old numbers at http://www.textfiles.com/phreak/NUMBERS/dial11.phk . I would call them myself, but I'm just a kid and my parents wouldn't be happy about all the long distance calling.

Here's afew from the 847

847 3330000/8472180000: I have no idea what this is, but it's owned by Arch Wireless, which is a really weird company that provides paging and I think sms services. Their numbers are really weird: If you get a busy signal on most any of their numbers, (On their numbers that answer with a single high tone, press either star or pound to get a busy tone) pressing star will play a recording asking you for the pager number. I was really surprised when I found this out. 8473330xxx gives you a busy tone, and 847218xxxx (except for 0000) give you ahigh tone, then a busy signal when you hit pound. Actually, I'm too much of a noob to know the difference between a reorder tone and a busy tone, so it might be a reorder tone.

8473587900: A strange number that asks you for your authorization code, and then afew lines of an asian sounding language. It might even be more than one asain sounding language

8473480100: This is a voice mail box that I set up jokingly for "Bill Zwensky," whose name I use for all my SE'ing calls and has sort of become my phreaking alter-ego. The answering machine is just me talking in a weird voice, but the thing thats most interesting about this number is the numbers around it. Its an exchange (I think i'm using the term exchange incorrectly) of vacant VM's with the default password of 1234. Leave me a message if you want to.

and afew from a scan I did a while ago

8005260192 - "Thank you and goodbye"

8005260008 - possibly the strangest tones I've ever heard. I have no idea what this is.

8005260012 - robotic error message

8005260146 - fast talking mesage

I'm just a kid, too, but that doesn't stop me from calling hundreds of long distance numbers each and every month :) . Check what kind of long distance plan you have, and if either the cost or a toll record on your bill showing up bothers you, a calling card can relieve both of those issues. I personally recommend AT&T, since they route all calls over their 4ESS network, are great for scanning, since their option to place another call is much quicker to respond than the cards offered by most other major carriers, and have better international rates then most cards. They changed their terms of service over the summer, though, so you'll potentially get charged three to eight times the normal rate for a call when you dial an in-state call. It's really ridiculous -- some in-state calls cost less then a call to Australia on the same platform. If you live in 847, you're actually lucky enough to live in a state where this nonsense doesn't apply, though. Despite that, they're still decent cards -- AT&T Target cards are about $28 dollars for 600 minutes last time I checked.

If you need another option, Sprint is probably your best bet, since the rates are slightly higher, but they don't have that obnoxious surcharge on in-state calls, will let you reach the majority of not in service messages from other countries if that's your thing (most carriers don't like doing this), and will let you end the call you're on manually and place another call, unlike most Verizon cards.

Damn, I feel like such a sell-out to the major carriers now...

Thanks for the advice, I just got a verizon 900 min phone card, and I plan on calling some of those numbers on the list. God damn, I shouldn't have gotten a verizon phone card... having to hang up, call the number, enter my pin, and then actually dial is not very fun. But I've only called about a tenth of those numbers and have already found some very interesting things.

I've never bought a phone card. It seems like every time I'm almost out of minutes, I find another half-used card lying in the street or abandoned in a payphone. It's amazing.

I finished the http://www.textfiles.com/phreak/NUMBERS/dial11.phk list. Not alot of numbers were still active, I got a lot of CBCAD recordings, but I did find a few really cool numbers.

The numbers that work as originally listed:

800-528-2121 AMERICAN EXPRESS (AMEX) VOICE CREDT VERIFICATION LINE

617-637-1234 BOSTON TIME AND WEATHER pretty cool

305-994-2160 DATA BURSTS Very cool find. I encourage everyone to check this one out. First it rings normally, then it changes to a really cool ring, and then answers with a tone.

REPUBLICAN LEGISLATIVE PGM. 202-225-2020

DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATIVE PGM. 202-225-1600

(800)-242-4022 SMOG REPORT LOS ANGELES

(800) 367-4710 SMOG REPORT SAN BERNDNO

714-897-5511 TIMELY - verizon time

800 525-7623 AMERCIAN-EXCHANE SERVICE

206-343-0011 Deposit .25 cents recording

206-343-7220 Express line carrier, I believe, but answers weirdly. Check it out.

817-493-5336 Benbroock CO

817-297-1111 Crowley CO

817-237-3301 Lake Worth CO

817-295-5225 Burleson CO

512-361-7211 DIAL-A-MEDITATION/MINN.

516-922-9463 USE YOUR FINGER(XXX)/LONG ISLAND N.Y. this guy is nuts. Call this.

212-799-5017 ABC NEW YORK FEED LINE at the very least, crazy hold music. Very dramatic.

Interesting numbers that are different than originally listed in the text file are listed below. Their description in the original text file is listed right after the number, and their current description is listed after that.

305-973-8768 POMPANO PARK HORSE RACING RESULT - strange error code.

305-994-9964 IBM INFO - Now a voice mail. Listen to the whole thing. Its kinda scary.

ENERGY REGULATORY COMM. 202-357-8555 - "Please leave a message for (in a really awesome, techno-like robotic voice) acs emergency line (It might have been something a little different than that)

203-771-3930 PIONEERS "thank you for calling att call notes"

1-800-3685847- THIS IS THE AARP SYSTEM. SOMETHING FOR RETIRED PEOPLE. "The local sattilte number you have called is no longer in service"

619-464-0000 California SCC (southeast) " we;re sorry, you cant use this feature to reach the number you are calling right now"

206-343-7220 Express line carrier, I believe, but answers weirdly. Check it out.

206-523-1914 Oriental lang. recording now a bible recording.

713-673-1115 Orchard PCXR - rings afew times, then rings weird, and then answers with a tone. Check this one out too.

206-624-8985 DIAL-A-MEDITATION/SEATTLE same bible recording as 206 523 1914

800-858-9313 RECORD-A-VOICE "memory full. Please erase messages"

714-346-7673 DIAL-A-TEENAGER "LA 4, not created. Then reorder/busy tone that responds to DTMF"

I admit, I didn't call every number, I skipped afew, and I didn't call any of the NORAD, canadian, or overseas numbers. Anyways, I would love some feedback, especially about some of the weirder numbers. Enjoy.

Edit: Also, if you left me a message on my bill zwensky voice mail, I didn't recieve it. I called it yesterday and I had two new messages, but for some reason the messages didn't play. So just pm me if you want.

According to AT&T, the Pontiac West 1AESS was replaced this July with an EWSD. These numbers suggest otherwise, though. Whatever the case, call them while you can -- the switch probably doesn't have long to live. I might as well mention, too, most of the recordings are done by some guy down in the switchroom, so if that's your thing, you've got plenty to look forward to.

Also, if you're dialing from, say, a 5 or 1ESS, you won't be able to hear the sound of the switch picking up the trunk because of how long it takes for the local switch to put you onto the trunk. If you have a calling card or other means of dialing out, consider that instead; none of these supervise.

I agree, that switch in Pontiac, MI is still a 1AESS. It doesn't sound like a EWSD and has the clicks of a 1AESS.

Get these while they're hot, cuz they'll go away REAL soon!
