Since AVG is now an evil corporation (or something like that) what do you guys prefer now-a-days?

I like a-squared

edit: Also, any LiveCDs you can recommend?

AVG works just fine.

Avast works (that is what I use for my one Windows base system)

LiveCDs for what purpose? The most useful one IMO is Backtrack3

ClamWin

Simple, small, effective.

This is what I switched to as well. I also dropped AVG and I evaluated about 10 different alternatives and clamwin was #1 with Avast being #2 in my opinion.

If you want simple and unobtrusive, get clamwin. If you want more features, get avast.

Clamwin doesn't have a active defender mode does it? Or do I just have the wrong version? Or is that one of those "more features" to get Avast for?

I should have clarified, antivirus live cd.

You could always make your own Live CD, with the AVs of your choice.

That is what we do at my work, each employee makes their own Live CD with programs that they use a lot.

You could check out UBCD for Windows.

I found a program around 6 months ago which ran four AV programs, one after the other.

Can't for the life of me remember what it was though.

Why is AVG evil now?

I am wondering this as well. AVG has always worked fine for me, though I also use the flash drive version of Clamwin.
