Diverting digital and audio output

4 posts in this topic

Ubuntu 8.04

Motherboard: D975XBX2

I've googled around and I guess I don't know what I'm asking for..

But...

Is it possible to set up Ubuntu to send say, Amarok's output to the motherboards audio.digital.out and the other system alerts to the regular audio.analog.out channels? w/o adding another sound card?

If so: how?

else if I do have to add another sound card, what kind of stuff should I read up on before I start editing .conf files?

I can do this quite easy, using jack.

However setting jack up, and actually getting it to run in real time can be quite hard but well worth it.

I'll look into it. Thanks.
