3 posts in this topic

Is there any forum software that has built-in support for mathematical symbols or any script that does it for existing forums ? I have looked on web but found nothing. Please post if you know any script or forum of this kind.

Thanks.

Hey,

There are some forums which have LaTeX support but they seem to be using scripts they hacked together themselves. Some other types of online services (such as wordpress) have built in latex support as far as I know there aren't any forum systems which have publicly available versions.

You can add maths formulas into forums which don't have plug-ins by using a LaTeX image generator (another, there are plenty of these services) - which takes LaTeX as input and outputs a jpeg which you can link to. You visit the image generator, enter your formula and link to the resulting picture.

{\pi + 5}\over{\sqrt{4}}

will give:

thenakedscientists.com/forum/ has an extensive range of mathematical symbols at you disposal. They're powered by SMF or something.

Sorry if something isn't quite right, I'm writing this in a hurry.
