Spam loop?

10 posts in this topic

i guess you could call it a spam loop, or thats what i name it untill it find the right name, but my idea was that you could rite a program that takes all the address of the spammers out there and send them spam, so in a since it just loops there spam back to them, now my thoughts of this are 1) they do not have a recieving end of the account they send from, and 2) my idea just really sucks and it holds no real potential. i dont know how to go about starting something like this but if its possible a start would be nice

yeah, most spam generally comes from a spoofed address anyway.

Many spam mailers give bad return addresses, so it would be difficult to get the email address of every spammer in the world. Unless there's like a list of all the grade A shitbags who send me v1@6R@ adds all the time. It's a good idea, but it won't really help the problem.

I mean, what if the spammers installed your program to send the spam back to you. Now there would be an illegitamate shit storm of garbage email bouncing back and forth.

This won't work because 99.9999% of spammers spoof their return address. What you can do is get contact info from the site the spammer links too. Whois info is a good start. They need some way for you to buy somthing from them, there will be some way for you to harrass them.

Edit: I didn't see the other people that replied first saying what I just said about spoofed email. But finding their contact info is not hard. For example I just found the email address support@herbalsupport.biz in the html source of this site

http://www.herbalmarts.biz/customer.html

I think at this point there are only a few things that can be done about spam.

1. Sign powerfull anti-spam laws into effect making spamming a felony and punishable by up to 20 years in prison, though that would only work untill they started leaving for other countries, then I suppose we'd have to amend the geneva convention to define spam as a war crime punishible by up to 20 years in jail, eliminating the vast majority of countries that spammers can flee to...

2. outlaw penis enlargement and viagra.

Of course spam COULD be a blessing. since anymore it seems 99 percent of all email sent is spam it essentiall makes any large scale government surveilance of email impracticle if not impossible.

Also, isn't it interesting how spam mailers are resorting to l337 sp34k to get past mail filters? Kind of like (at least how some tell the story) hackers started using l337 to bypass filters about discussing verboten subjects.

Listen to episode 4 (I think) of BinRev Radio for discussion on this topic.

"how some tell the story" referring to my 2600 article a while back? ;) Also, a more recent episode of BRR 20 discusses that and several other spammer tricks. I originally mentioned them using elite speak back on episode 8.

damn, i gues it would have been easier to say listen to *all* of the back episodes of BRR! :)

i like spam and ads. they keep stuff free.

the internet was free looooong before ads.

But, I agree with you in general, but it is the unwarranted ads that cross the line. Intrusive pop-ups and unsolictied SPAM cross the line.
