I think it's time for me to dabble with regular expressions, i've found some guides but i'm just wondering if anybody has any that they would recommend above others.

RegexBuddy is a great tool for quickly building and testing expressions or just learning from.

It's 'windows only' (though works with wine) and supports perl, php, ruby, basic, etc.. any major language with regex capability.

Free fully-functional 7-day demo available, buy it if you like it. :)

Mastering Regular Expressions from O'Reilly is now in its third edition.

Always a good read.. also worth your money.

Should be far more than enough to start delving in to regex. ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nondeterminis...e_state_machine is a good start? Although, you have not described your goal...
