Recovering MBR for linux and windows

I have this problem where by when i install Windows and linux i have the LILO for the boot loader. When i have a problem with the registry of windows and i fix it i find that i cannot see linux but windows systems only. Is there a way i can fix this

What kind of registry changes are you making?

My windows xp got corrupt and i had to install it back so when i go back to linux it's gone

Window will alway over write linux in this way, first thing to do is check if you have written over linux by windows formating the whole partion or if it just changed the MBR, if its the latter you can recover it.

This website has some good instructions for repairing your MBR and using LILO as your boot loader. http://linuxhelp.blogspot.com/2005/11/how-...r-and-boot.html You'll just need a knoppix live CD or the first Fedora install CD which can be downloaded and burned easily in windows. It's been a long time since I used LILO (I'm more of a grub fan and it's been many, many beers ago that I used LILO) and according to the website you don't need to modify your lilo.conf (should just be in /etc if I recall correctly) but if you do this looks like a good resource http://www.acm.uiuc.edu/workshops/linux_install/lilo.html . I haven't formatted the linux partiton but i will try the links and i will let u know
