The sad fact is that very few people are willingly to actually go to seek out the truth, because that would mean effort. Instead they just believe everything the media spoon feeds them. "Hackers are evil, they read my email and give me viruses." No, I don't read your email and no I don't give you viruses. You aren't interesting.

As hackers, we have a right to assemble, a right to keep out whoever we want, and a right to make fun of you for being sheeple.

I'm surprised at how dumb the media thinks hackers are, that we'd divulge incriminating evidence just because she has breasts. I mean come on the bitch isn't even that hot, how desperate do they think we are? I don't believe for one second that NBC didn't know what hacking is really about, but they don't care, they want to play on your fears, because thats what attracts viewers. Don't blame the general public thats doesn't know any better, blame the journalists who intentionally twist the facts to get ratings.

I think they should have have let her stay but informed everyone to avoid her like the plague. Then had goons multi-stalk her for the rest of her stay, it wouldn't take her long to get the message that she wasn't welcome.

Look at some of these god damned comments.
me says:

why is a hacker convention even allowed? don't we arrest people that hack into computers? i bet those geeks aren't so tough when THEY'RE walking alone.

Rob says:

She was doing her job, not hurting anyone...regardless...the people "escorting her out" acted like jerks. Yes, some will say that some journalists and photographers act like jerks sometimes too. Will the reporters be more careful/smarter next time, sure they will. Taking a pic of the reporter and saying it's for those helpless predator's...please...Grow Up! The people making the comments sounded like high school goobers! Glad they got their 5 minutes of fame-idiots!

Yvonne says:

What a bunch of immature jerks chasing this woman. I be they don't have any girlfriends.

Judy says:

What a bunch of freaks and nerds. Huh Huh!!

Chris says:

I have a solution to the whole so called hacker problem....

Make stronger hacker laws...it's as easy as that...then hackers will think twice before they think about messing with anyone else again.

example:Put them in jail for twice as long.

These hackers have been getting away with to much lately..it's time to put an end this BS!

X_line says:

NERDS!!! OK.. 1) Who the hell chases away a good looking woman like that.. The only way they'd be interested in her is if she had a keyboard attached to her or was a part of Warcraft or some crap.. 2) Yes there is a negative spin on Hackers.. Gee.. Wonder why.. Just maybe if ya'll didn't try breaking into things you have no right to see.. Stealing personal information.. 3) If they had nothing to hide and weren't doing anything wrong or planning on doing something wrong then why where they so quick to get her out of there.. Hmm.. I'm no Rocket Scientist but last time I check people tend to freak out like that when they know they're caught.. If you're a "Hacker" and don't want us displayed in a negative light STOP DOING THINGS THAT ARE ILLEAGAL AND WRONG!! DUH!!!

Corie says:

She had every right to be there at the convention...and she is probably smarter than the a-- men who were there in attendance. Too bad the first two speakers were not as attractive as she is.....typical man!

rcfcc says:

I'm no rocket scientist, either, but doesn't it seem likely that by attending a "hackers" convention you might be getting on a few government lists? Isn't that kind of like having a Serial Killers Convention? I guess the feds know who to look at when someone's identity is stolen. Or, maybe this group is the hacker wanna-be's and don't really know how to do it (they're just frustrated computer geeks who want people to fear them). Either way, isn't this what the Patriot Act was invented for?

william says:

While they sounded like a bunch of goons who couldnt get laid in a whorehouse with a fistful of hundreds, what the difference between them chasing her or a group of newshounds chasing Britney,Lyndsey,or someone whose family was just killed all for the sake of a little air time

Ed the Great says:

The geeks' nervous Bevis & Butthead laughter toward the end of the video says it all. What pathetic losers. The geek will not inherit the earth. They will end up Whopper floppers instead.

This actually makes me extremely angry at the sheer ignorance of the general public.

For the sake of Darwin, these people need to be euthanized

You are being too kind, me thinks. There are a few suggestions I've taken up from Carlin - and I think we're due for some beheadings on national TV sometime soon.

I posted this:

STDstroyer says:

You people are completely ignorant. You have no idea what hacking is about and you have no idea what defcon is about. Its not about hacking peoples credit cards or other total bullshit like that. It's about learning and sharing knowledge, but i see that you people are too backwards to realize that some people actually like learning, instead of being stupid and getting ahead just barely in school. The geeks you look down upon are the ones who made your life easier and more enjoyable by pioneering the internet. YOu people should be disgusted with your sheer ignorance regarding this situation. Also, you claim that geeks have no girlfriends or social skills. Thats a stereotype that is childish and stupid. Geeks and nerds and everything in between are people just like you, only they arent titilated retardedly and blindly into following the masses. Free thinkers attract free thinkers. Maybe youre just too stupid to figure that out. Before you judge anyone else, take a look at youself. Think before you act.

I got this:

rofls says:

gosh stupid hacker... go hack a gibson

Let them remain blissful in their arogant ignorance. These people are the same ones who would hand over their constitutional rights because "they have nothing to hide." It's doesn't even have to be about that. It's about taking a friggin interest in your personal information, security and overall safety. They'd rather the government take care of them instead of asserting any sort of individualism. Just the same, they'd rather listen to a completely biased piece of shock and awe reporting regarding an issue they know nothing about because it makes them feel satisfied they are nothing like the individuals being vilified in the sorry excuse of journalistic trash.

They should excercise some personal thought for a change.

Actually what no one realizes is that while she was being "escorted" to the exit, Chris Hansen was brazenly walking through the conference with his camera crew unchallenged and unhampered by anyone.

By the way, If someone does register as a regular attendee, does he or she have the right to bring in a camera, take pictures and record the proceedings. How much can you as a regular attendee as opposed to the press.

Normally, I'd agree with you, but there's far too many people like that out there. If you just let those people sit there and continue to think that way, I think the average person's mentality is only going to get worse. Let's face it, there's a lot of fucked up shit going on right now. Why are people getting away with it? Because they don't know about it, or they don't have a clear understanding of what's going on. Besides, what was one of the purpose of binrev again? Something about taking back the good name of hackers? No way, we wouldn't do a thing like that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's perfectly fine to take a camera to defcon as a regular attendee. The only thing they ask is that you don't take pictures of crowds without getting everyones consent. If you want to take pictures of random people, you have to ask them for permission. Otherwise, I think taking pictures of anything else at defcon isn't a big deal.

When I went as press last year, I was told not to record an entire speech from start to finish. It's always nice to ask for permission before recording anyone or anything there. Most people are fairly laid back about pictures and recording from what I've noticed.

Very well put. What worries me is that I think people are *happy* with those thought processes, though -- they'd choose them over truth.

I personally, have come to enjoy the fact that roughly 95% of the population is composed of sheep. Sheep have their uses. They get herded around without question or reason, they harvested to make our lives better.

If the majority of the population wasn't unconscious, we wouldn't have the wonderful art of social engineering.

that does make sense, but what does that say about the advancement of society? were going to go into an electronic dark age. there will be hacker hunts instead of witch hunts, where they burn old digital camera and ram sticks to purge society of the wicked.

i think we need to start shunning some skiddies and bein careful like we always have been. im certain that these "hack myspace" posts and the curiously increased amount of stupid script kid type posts are linked to a dateline story in the making. they're thinking someone's gonna be like, "oh heres some credit card numbers, im an UBER UBER l33t h4x0r" and then they can put on tv how godless we are. im getting tired of this disrespectful bullshit. do they really think we are that stupid, that we cant see what's going on?

HEY, REPORTER!!! YEAH!!! HI!!!!! GUESS WHAT? FUCK YOU!!!!!
