what compression programs do you use? for binrev radio mp3

if anyone has open source programs please list them... thanks

FYI man, alright. You could sit at home, and do like absolutely nothing, and your name goes through like 17 computers a day. 1984? Yeah right, man. That's a typo. Orwell is here now. He's livin' large. We have no names, man. No names. We are nameless!

I can't speak for binrev but when I used to do my show I used the command line version of LAME. I would imagine LAME is the most popular encoder whether people realize they're using it or not. http://lame.sourceforge.net/index.php

Audacity for the most part is the defacto standard.

*not talking on behalf of binrev*

Not technically a compressor but an audio editor.

I always use LAME. For mp3, nothing compares to the standard compressor (many programs use LAME, are built around it, or simply copy it).

Foiled again by terminology and my lack of grasp on it.

I use LAME directly under Linux, and BonkEnc (which uses LAME) under Windows. BonkEnc is fairly easy to use.

LAME Ain't an Mp3 Encoder

http://lame.sourceforge.net/index.php

LAME is an MPEG Audio Layer III (MP3) encoder licensed under the LGPL.

ehm, on their site they claim to be a mp3 encoder.

http://lame.sourceforge.net/about.php

Following the great history of GNU naming, LAME originally stood for LAME Ain't an Mp3 Encoder. LAME started life as a GPL'd patch against the dist10 ISO demonstration source, and thus was incapable of producing an mp3 stream or even being compiled by itself.

I’m trying to use Jokosher more now for editing which uses the GStreamer multimedia framework. Jokosher is far better then Audacity in my opinion, although neither have everything I need, Jokosher still ticks more of the boxes.
