using existing Windows installation with Wine

3 posts in this topic

I dual boot Windows and Linux. I've been playing around a bit with Wine, because I heard somewhere that there was a way to use my existing Windows installation with it, which would make Wine use my Windows dlls and such and make things run smoother. I changed the symlink for the C drive in Wine to point to where my Windows partition is mounted, but it would appear that that didn't help anything, as the only program I tried to run which ran smoothly was Filezilla. Does anyone know how I could use my existing Windows installation with Wine?

You can't use wine with an actual windows partition, you would need to use vmware, qemu, or xen.
