Can't traceroute

4 posts in this topic

I can't seem to traceroute past my ISP...it's quite strange:

Tracing route to googlemail.l.google.com [209.85.139.18]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.2.1

2 307 ms 16 ms 19 ms ppp-124.120.124.1.revip2.asianet.co.th [124.120.124.1]

3 19 ms 18 ms 21 ms ppp-210.86.189.41.revip.asianet.co.th [210.86.189.41]

4 18 ms 19 ms 20 ms 10.169.41.1

5 * * * Request timed out.

6 20 ms 19 ms 19 ms 61-90-133-238.static.asianet.co.th [61.90.133.238]

7 19 ms 19 ms 36 ms 61-90-133-237.static.asianet.co.th [61.90.133.237]

8 153 ms 19 ms 18 ms 61-90-254-89.static.asianet.co.th [61.90.254.89]

9 * * * Request timed out.

10 * * * Request timed out.

11 * * * Request timed out.

12 * * * Request timed out.

13 * * * Request timed out.

14 * * * Request timed out.

And I can't seem to ping external sites/ip's...is this something on my end? Maybe my router?

perhaps your isp is blocking icmp or somewhere along the line there is a firewall blocking icmp

Some trace route programs don't use icmp. For example traceroute in linux or winmrt, both use a tcp and udp connection for trace routes.
