Messing with TCP/IP to bring up the Wrong Webpage

6 posts in this topic

I want to try this on my computer - has anybody experimented with this before.

First go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc then open the file “hosts” with notepad and make a new line inside the file and add www.google.com and 127.0.0.1.

Now this will redirect google to your own PC so you “cant open” www.google.com anymore with your current browser (well you can if you reverse what you just did)

But how to you get to the drivers in system 32 because whenever I go I just see a bunch of key files. :blink:

Go to Start -> Run

and then type x:/windows/system32/drivers

(where x is the letter of the driver in which the windows folder is located)

drivers is just a folder in system32 which is not hidden. I wonder how can't u access drivers.

I remember doing this when I was like 13-14 (YEARS ago), I was so excited that it worked :lol: I almost forgot it existed

Ha, we used to do this back in the day. Here's an idea make a fake FBI website and deface, then in your hosts file, redirect www.fbi.gov to your site.

Now that is straight up 1337...
