boosting embedded 802.11's signal

i just bought a laptop with embedded wireless. my question is... is there a way to boost my signal without having to buy a usb adapter?

The only solution I know if is to open the bottom cover. There will be two wires for the antenna, white and black I think. Best you can do is add some pigtails so you can use an external antenna. I dont think inducing is possible.

An external antenna can only add a little to the sensitivity of the WiFi at the most you would double the effective range of the card (which isn't saying much as most built in cards have a very limited range anyway), but to get some serious gain you'd have to boost the output of the WiFi card itself (in combination with an external antenna) and that is (as far as I know) not possible with most built-in WiFi cards.
