You could probably call AOL up and SE for a huge list of these, except for the fact that there's no point in it.

It's for people who want free aol. It really has no point but I think it's fun to see how many password we can come up with.

I just think it is a fun project, and I would like to make a keygen for the AOL disks, just a project I'm engaging in.

Creating a keygen is cool, and it's an admirable project for wanting to find out how keygens work and how to put them together, but creating a keygen for AOL specifically is like trying to find a better way to jump sack-first into a bathtub filled with scissors and vinegar. :D

Accually its a pretty good idea. For example, if you wanting to access the net without being traced to your landline, you can just take a laptop and connect to any publicly available phone socket, like I know that there are many places where you can access phone lines in the UK. Its also a good idea for the few people who dont have access to wireless technology...

And if you live in the UK... AOL have been giving out a months free trial for like 2 years now, so if you dont live in a DSL/cabled area and you feel like you're being ripped off, you just just keep jumping from one trial to another, my friend has been doing that for about 4/5 months now since his DSL line was "suspended" for "misuse". Plus AOL accually have a good network here in the UK, usual downloads on 56k on AOL here clock in round about 8/9kb/s compared to 4/5kb/s on other 56k ISP's, but who in the hell still has 56k?

this is also good for people who wish to remain anonymous so they just keep using new AOL pwds and skipping around which makes you almost anonymous. For those who are always on the move, this is very nice.

56k tops at 53Kb, which is 6.6KB max

I would be more interested to see what kinds of patterns the usernames come in, since Im assuming that is how AOL tracks where they are getting their people from

the names for the passwords correspond to the distributor (office max, wal-mart, etc.) That's how they collect the money for distributing AOL disks!

Not only that, but the user/pass also corresponds to a residence address if the disc was sent to your house.

And that's just scary.

hm, doesn't signing up for this service also /require/ a credit card number (after all, NOTHING is free...ever)? if so, anonymity is quite inconceivable and it seems like this project would be ultimately fruitless.

yea you do need to use a credit card to sign up, it just doesn't get charged till the end of the free trial

What about those pre-paid credit/debit cards you can buy? Doesn't seem like you need to have you name tied to it..

I dont think using AOL would keep you completely anonymous unless you then spoof your MAC addy. Because if you do something really malicious and the FEDs will stop at nothing to get you, they will probably request logs from other ISP's to check and see if they can find a corresponding MAC addy that was used on another ISPs network. I remember reading about this and how some asian guy got 0wned.

Exactly, AOL will cooperate with Feds, hardly anyone else though. This is more for say, proxying to aol.com and sending harrassing emails to ex's new man and you don't want whois showing anything but the VA server. For the stop at nothing fed, like SUB-SONIX said, you would have to spoof or use a throwaway, bought with cash NIC or something.

From what I noticed, they repeat. Over and over. All of the CDs I took had the same codes.

I'll get more next time I'm out, and if for any reason you want an AOL disc ISO I'll send you one. Just contact me however you feel like using my sig.

Hmm ISOs.. You know what one should try and see if other passwords and id #s work on different aol disc. There could be a 50/50 chance that AOL has a pool of random passwords and ID #s that work with every free cd?

I will try that as soon as my brother quits using his computer so I'll have a machine I can run test programs on.

Anyone else, feel free to do this yourself, don't wait for me.
