Multiple usemap in HTML

6 posts in this topic

is it possible to use multiple usemaps, such as this:

<img name="finaltop" src="finaltoplogo1.gif" usemap="#finaltop" width="832" height="156" border="0" usemap="#m_finaltoplogo1"

because if it isnt i found my problem.

May I ask why you're pulling off multiple usemaps instead of just the one?

Its not like having 2 will do anything 1 cannot: even if the fields of both of them intersected each other, it wouldn't open up 2 URLs or anything, it would simply open the one it prioritises over the other (prolly the last one the browser would theoretically parse). So if you're trying to accomplish something special, maybe you can share it with us and we'll try to figure out a solution with you :)

well, i figured it out. but i wanted one map on something and the other map on another part of the image, it was a rather big image instead of using all the coords. but i just resorted to using all the coords.

Using the actual coords lowers the risk of having a browser display the usemap incorrectly.

yeah, i was testing with some browsers on Windows, Linux, and Mac platforms in IE, Firefox, and Safari. And there was considerable difference. Its really amazing that they all cant display pages the same :P

Terrible, isn't it? I wonder if everyone will ever get their a55es in gear and develop browsers in which it is at least *possible* to make the page render correctly across the board.
