  4. hello I have a Dell PowerEdge 1550 server and I really need to install a graphics card in it to do what I want to do. It has 2 PCI-X slots I see but I am told that the second slot is actually used by the RAID controller and there it a fibre card in the other for connecting to the harddrive towers which I don't use much. The Card also needs to have some audio capablities and ports. I plan to run a openlife server through it and need to be able to bring the viewer up to manage some of the properties. Pentium III/933 processor, ServerWorks ServerSet III HE-SL chipset, 2Gb of 133MHz SDRAM , Adaptec AIC-7899G Ultra160 SCSI chipset, 3 Ç 9.1Gb Seagate Cheetah Ultra160 hard disks in hot-plug carriers, two Intel Pro100+ adaptor chipsets, Dell PERC 3/DCL PCI RAID controller card with 64Mb of cache memory, 24x TEAC CD-ROM, ATi Rage XL graphics chipset with 4Mb of memory, Intel Pro100+ server adaptor PCI card, rack kit included. Dell Server Assistant, FAST and OpenManage software bundled.
  5. Okay this bug that is putting a BIG RED Biohazard ActiveDesktop with a Bright Red Background Advertising a virus protector that i think is called stopdefender on my media center hp 894c. Here is what learned so far. It seems to reoccur and reactivate AppleMobilDeviceService.exe which came on cd but may have been update from the web. The big red 'back ground' really isn't. It is a webpage over laying the background. If you go to Display Properties - Customize Desktop - web It is call privacy protection, uncheck that and it will dissappear when you hit apply until you reboot. I found it is coming from file:///C:/WINDOWS/privacy_danger/images/spacer.gif so I deleted the privacy_danger folder but it comes back in the next boot I think that it was connected to a file in C:\WINDOWS\Registration called {02D4B3F1-FD88-11D1-960D-00805FC79235}.{FC3B39D8-985E-4C67-B930-AE 6669F22FE6}.crmlog so I tossed that in the recycle bin but it was still being used so it wouldn't go. I have a very limited boot up and noticed an 'atuflxto' item the\at was new so I unchecked it and deleted atuflxto.dll from C:\WINDOWS\system32 but got an access denied. it's time stamp it close to when this all started. so I did run regedit and got rid of it there. only for it to come back 5 minutes later with the big red and the red biohazard sign advertising a virus remover. only this time I GOT THE AUDIO OF WHAT SOUNDED LIKE IN ONLINE TV STATION PLAYING A SEX SHOW!!! AND NOTHING NEW IS IN THE TASKMANAGER!!! It also seems to cycle through different items that are opened. CWShredder seems to get rid of some of graphic and the sound for a short time. Okay that is all I can get anyone got any ideas. here is the logs from CWShredder and Hyjack-This. **** Run Keys **** RUN: [sunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\jusched.exe" RUN: 7. Hey I am trying to find a program that will let me block a website either by url or by frezing the applet. The program needs to unseen in Explorer, desktop, and the taskbar but if it can seen/shutdown in task manger thats okay. I want to put it on me sister computer so she can't get to her game site runescape and it give her a can not find website or the java applet stop working. Ihave tried to use the standred Internet explorer options and the methods from these websites but nothing seems to work except putting the site in restricted in internet options and she can get around that easy. Not only is she not supose to be playing games cause her mom grounded her she got mad at me and delete all my games and stole most of the disc. I am really at my wits end runescape is the only game she plays and since it is on the internet and so is her homework I can't keep her off it, please help.
  8. I am doing it on my sisters computer aka box so I can control when she goes on games instead of homework. If I understand the host file method you put the site to be blocked first then the site you want them to be sent to right. I will try that I sound like the oppisite way the site have been telling me which didn't work. so maybe it will. okay the turorial worked thanks xof7
  9. Hey ya'll I am having some trouble finding the memory that will work for Compaq 6485CL the spec say that it has this: Memory 512 MB DDR SDRAM Memory Max 1 GB Memory Speed 2100 MB/Sec Total DIMM Sockets 2-184 pin I bought a pair of 512 that I thought would work from circuit city but they didn't work in my machines or a hp media center 894c in any configuration. I'll get those exact specs tomarrow but i think the only diffrence was they had a little higher speed. I don't know what was wrong with them they are kingstons and they were supose to work, so any help would be good.
  10. Okay the memory is kingston 512 mb pc3200 400mz ddr i thought they were 184 and the product number is kvr400/512r which shows up on a google search as 184 pin. Given what you said and this info I take it the ram is to fast for my desktop. I'll just have to find something slower at least I manage to get the graphic card up to 128mb and a 550 watt power supply. Just need one more ram card and replace the front ports with a multi reader and this computer will be as maxed as I think I would like it unless I double the graphic agian but I don't know if the computer can take it with out a cpu upgrade. personal note:kingston original equivalent KTC-PR266/512
  11. I found this while doing some song downloads an I wondered, what you all would think of it. Click here for the lyrics! Click here for the song!
  12. I read a book of short stories that I believe was called 'silicon dreams'. In one of the stories a futuristic family got so poor (mom got cancer, insurance skrewed them) that the government UNPLUGED them. The kid was real bright but ended up on the street just because if he went to school the bullies (including his old best friend) beat him to a pulp and his dad and granny got taken to jail and old folk home because his dad could not work because he had no computer. It paints a very horrible picture of somethings that happen today that we don't see and how they can get worse in the future. I for one think that no government on group should have that sort of ability that they can take action or be allowed to not do something they are suppose to do anyway that would hurt someone that is innocent in this manner. Back on topic I read an article about a machine that I would phrase as a Plasma Torch Atomiser. What it does is a-masing. U put any trash in it even shotgun shells and it uses the same type of torch that is used in industrial sheet meteal cutting to break the stuff down to atoms. then it uses this to create several gases, a water soluble glass, and more energy then it uses. It gets the energy back from the molecular bonds it breaks. their are 5 of these devices that I know of and the military has been using 2 to get rid of their nonnuclear waste. I think the other 3 are in china, and 2 US cities dumps. One can take more trash then New York makes in a day! Now that is what I call cool tech, but it uses nothing that hasn't been around for the past 15 years!
  13. Okay this is sort of a continuation of another topic, but I think it is something ppl need. I am trying to find a meter, test, or site That will tell me how much Bandwidth i have left per day particarly for satilite internet. Here is basically what my problem is only another member here has the same service as me. So basically I need to know when the internet will change to slow mod or be able to check the usage of the net before I do a download. I went to do a little 20MB download tonight and got hit by it at 5MBs! If any one can make any suggestion of how this might be done I would be most grateful.
  14. Come on that is so old I saw that one years ago. bought one it is crap. the cool thing that is going to come out for batteries are rechargers that you don't even have to plug in the beam the energy on radio wave I seen it in action and it is real and on the market standred in a little over a year i think. However the other stuff is gold that drafting board is going to be a news editor best friend I preditic unless that new nano tech makes something better. the panel might make it if they move to nanofilm thet you can edit and drsign your own panels. the only one of those vids that was bad is the comercial was microsoft and that is all phony by the way.
  15. This actually sound like something some companies do any way. I know at my grocery store they tend to blare 'working 9-5' at 11:30 several times in a row. I would like to know how you manage to do it and what program you use for the player, the task setup is the right way to get it ran, but how do you plan to get it to every one?
  16. Okay I need to find a way to test if stuff is going through port made on a router. I would like a program that does is but I might be able to figure out the manuel method if someone could instruct me how to. I have a few program that jam up the internet as soon as I turn them on even though I am on the routers DMZ and have the ports directed to me. I have tried many different methods and organized the ports many different ways with the dmz on and off. Any suggestion will be welcomed
  17. Okay I a satilite dish for my internet and wireless belkin network to spread it to the computers. I go and try to download a big file that is 400 MB and when i hit 200 MB I get a bandwidth drop. Normal downloading for me is 1-2% of 54 MB network conection. it always happens around the 200 MB mark. If I pause the download and restart it and hour later I get the normal speed for a little while then it drops again. a guy from the company says it is a problem on my end but I get 90 percent of the signal on a clear day and you only need 45%. does anyone know what I can do to fix this. I have uploaded a pic of my task manger with some illistrations of a slow phase. P.S. The only lines we have out here are power lines, we don't even have phone lines yet!!!. trouble_with_satailte.bmp
  18. I wonder if there is a way to check or keep tabs on the amount of download bandwidth that you have. You know like the amount of time you have left on your cell. any sugestions?
  19. I am have a simular problem, but given I AM on a satitilite connection it might be easier for me to explian. figure out what type of primary connection you have and what if suppose speed is. figure out what is the speed of all the connectors from the modem to your computer. go to cnet or somewhere and do a internet speed test. do a bunch of them. take an average of them and you get your real time peak speed. then wait until you internet goes slow and try to get a few speed test done. adverage them and you get your snails pace. know take an adverage of those two and divide it by what your taskmanager says you get for link speed. the percentage you get should match your regular network utilazation what I would like is a program that regular can give you a one button speed check of your network, the line coming in, and your usage
  20. did he get his speed back because I waited 10 hrs and it is still a snails pace of no more then 20 kbps It use to come back after about 9-12 hours, but it has not yet I am going try download on another computer that goes through the satilit link with a different ip address to see if that changes things. any suggestions will be helpful I am not a true noob just not very aggressivly active.
  21. If you are asking about the pick, no it is just windows taskmanager. If you are asking about my downloader, no I was useing cnet download manager at the time. I couldn't find a torrent of the file I wanted even most of the file I find are raries. is there any way to keep the download speed up at speed i mean .5 MBps is all I am asking for from it. or is that to much to desire
  22. i am looking for a program that lets you stack taskbar items. of example lets you put a google explore button and a game button in the same place allowing for switch by right clicking. I need it so a program I use can access several programs from the taskbar at the same time my useing simple mouse commands. anyone know of a program like that
  23. I got a call from a telamarketer on my cell and put the number in google to start to figure out who they were, and this forum is the only place that came up with that number on all the search engines. I find that very interesting.
