  1. That all depends on your wireless card. It would be helpful if you posted your model, driver, and manufacturer. If there is a driver problem with your wireless card, you can use ndiswrapper to use the windows driver in linux.
  2. You can use pwdump and johntheripper/cain or: 1) boot live linux 2) mount windows partition 3) copy SAM and SYSTEM file to usb key or other media 4) crack the SAM with cain or johntheripper Did you really search before you asked this question? There are thousands of articles on the internet and this forum has another hundred. Next time, before asking, do at least SOME research. PS. There are other ways as well

  7. This is what I am planning on buying to assemble myself. I have done my best to make sure these parts are compatible but this is my first time assembling a computer so I need help choosing the parts. I want to build a fast box that would be able to run virtual machines, do some graphics, movie editing, and software development. Also, I not really into games but don't really want to go below a 128Mb graphics card. More details are here Thank you in advance
  8. Scriptkiddies use Google to find outdated sites. Don't ask me why.... I just don't understand their logic. I guess they think it makes them cool?
  9. xss

XSS can be used to hijack sessions in order to bypass authentication. Many systems are vulnerable to XSS nowadays so it is a very common attack. XSS is only illegal if you are using it on a system you don't own or without permission.
  10. What are your intentions? I would like to remind you that every grade is backed up in written/print form. The grades are always carefully audited before they are released. Changing your grades in the grade book will only get you in very serious trouble. However, if you are just curious about how the grade book works and how it keeps grades secure, I suggest obtaining a copy of the grade book somehow and then debugging it. A good site for learning how to do this is http://www.crackmes.de. To practice, you can also use: http://www.damnvulnerablelinux.org. PS. My handle is just too common now...
  11. One place which might work well for meetings is downtown Silver Spring. It's nice because witin a block and a half of the metro (Silver Spring Station, on the Red Line) there is a large cluster of restaurants and about two blocks from the metro is the Silver Spring Verizon CO. Although, in terms of gear safety, the area is getting much better, but I am always one to be a worry wart. If the meeting were to be there though, there are a couple of possible places. One would be by the restaurants since there is nice, bright outdoor seating and it is also right next to a parking lot for all of you who don't want to take metro and want to drive. There is also a nice diner (Tasty Diner, Silver Spring) which has great, moderatly priced food and is conveinetly located behind the Silver Spring CO. There is also plenty of UE area around. -light Great i will check the place out. Can you guys make it on June 1st?
  12. Did you check if the cd had any errors on it? To fix this, go to the terminal. I believe you press [Ctrl] + [alt] + F1. This will enable you to use the computer in the command line. If there are no problems on the command line, post the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file here so that we can see if it is a corrupted x-server or just a bad configuration file.
  13. I have been to Union Station in DC and have talked to friends about it. I am starting to think its not such a good idea to hold our meetings there. First, it is not near most of our members. Second, it is not a very safe place to be with a laptops. Third, its not a very good area and not really in Maryland. I am thinking of some place in either Montgomery county or Fredrick county. Any suggestions? Also, I believe that it would be a good idea to have a meeting this coming Friday instead of just completely canceling this meeting.
  14. Looking at it i realy like it lol. It looks like just what i need since i can use it as a live CD and run the Server off of it. My onl question now i suppose is what should i use to host the web site. LAMP Linux, Apache, Mysql, PHP. Or does some one have a better idea for a good web hosting server???? Live linux does not store files. Once you reboot, all your files are gone. If you are already using LAMP for the proxy, why not put your website on that?
