Hrm, that's an interesting concept raised. Can piracy be used as a tool to "bleed the beast"? Do I wish to finance the industry that reiterates and feeds on my oppression?, fuck no! In fact, on behalf of excellent artists who will never get mainstream exposure due to their "unpackageability", every anorexic, and people of colour struggling to represent themselves outside the parameters of a media caricature; I WANT TO HURT the industry and the artists who truly made deals. Meh, "Resisting" a product by using it seems a bit, hum, flawed? Those lousy rebels who say Linux is better than Windows and actually run a pirate Windows XP on their box, and have very few knowledge of what Linux really is are real fags. If you want to boycott an artist, don't listen to their music, you're supposed to boycott it... Same for animal rights "activists" who aren't vegetarians. Do you like animals or not? C'mon people don't be so wimp when it comes to sticking to an idea. Wha.. Oh yeah, I did grab the whole quote, Doh! Sorry, that was more of a media rant. For example, I really loved Transformers, but was dismayed to see a sub-character female hacker cast (alongside below average looking males portraying the rest of her team) as an exceptionally beautiful woman. So...to enjoy the rest of the movie I had to pay to be assaulted with the same old refrain that a woman can be anything she wants just as long, and only if, she is hot first. I actually do keep a box with completely legit copies of photoshop, flash, etc. as I sometimes take photosim contracts. The reason for this is twofold. Firstly, many companies require the work to be done in certain programs (unfortunately, not gimp). Secondly, there are ways to tell if a piece has been done on pirated software and thats a sure way to loose future work. I bought them under my business name and feel that is more than fair. However, I do not feel it fair for some kid to have to pay that just to learn a piece of software fully. Companies do not want to allot time for new hires to learn unhobbled versions. Requiring one to buy a full license to be competent at the level that companies seek first day on the job raises some issues in relation to who can afford a proper education. I have to keep a windows box, but my others (and the ones I use most by far) are all *nix running free (as in freedom) software. boy·cott (boi'kŏt') pronunciation tr.v., -cott·ed, -cott·ing, -cotts. To abstain from or act together in abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with as an expression of protest or disfavor or as a means of coercion. Would not piracy achieve the goals of a boycott much more effectively ?
