  1. Lil update. It came today. Hooked her up, sli went great. I read online that even if this was clocked differently the system would have adjusted to the lower clock speed on the faster card. I did also notice that they changed the words enable sli in nvidia control panel to maximize 3d performance. Not sure if that is correct, but when i click maximize 3d performance the sli ticket pops up under my cards in the control panel. There are 3 settings for physx, now im debating throwing in a 9500 gt for a physx card, but for th time being i left it on auto. There was the options for cpu, gpu1 gpu2. Anyone think i should change it? Thanks
  2. I bought it just now. Worst case scenario ill just return it. Thanks
  3. So i have 2 gtx 460 fermis from sooo long ago. One recently died and i cant get it replaced by evga, so i am planning on buying it again. Here is what i had two of Now I am wondering if one of the above cards is Compatible with this one. I feel like this is a dumb question, because aside from one being fermi (i dont know what that means btw) they are the same card. Thanks a bunch!!! ~5imp7y
  4. Typically i have found that super gaming rigs prebuilt come with a 1200 watt PSU. I have a 1200 watt psu it was free! but is has like 500 bagillion cords that i will never use. legit has hookups for a quad SLI rig, which will never happen in my computer. I want to get a modular PSU because i can just remove the cords if im not using them. That keeps your case nice and clean and organized, i like that. When you look into your computer and see it all clean and shinny and lighting up! my case came with a 600 watt psu also, but my current system consumes more than that.
  5. Well My case has several fans built in and i feel that most of them are strategical and all of them (if they are intakes) have dust sheilds on them which are easily cleaned, plus I only have a fat cat who rarley comes into my room unless he is hungry, which typically he just meows where ever he is laying. As far as the home server goes, i think that is the next investment after I upgrade my computer. I need to boost up my computer a little, i would like to be able to stream HD films to my PS3 while playing battle feild 3. Here is my spec list: 2 1tb 7200 rpm hdd 2 nvidia geforce gtx 460 1gb core i5 650 3.2 ghz 4x 2gb Crucial Ballistix Sport evga p55 sli mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188055) 1200 watt coolmaster psu (freebie hence the huge size) what i am planning on adding A ssd(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NHAF06/ref=gno_cart_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) A second Graphics card (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VWZEBY/ref=gno_cart_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2H17L68NV5JRM) Running in SLI Some nice cable management (http://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-Connectors-Stabilizing-Capacitors-CP06/dp/B005DD28XG/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1364507359&sr=8-12&keywords=sata+cable+12in) A PCIe 1x wireless card(http://www.amazon.com/PCE-N15-performance-Wireless-N-Transmit-interface/dp/B0054L9PWO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1364508444&sr=1-1&keywords=pcie+wireless+card) Needs native linux support and linksys has been terrible to me in the past. ndiswrapper anyone? Anything i should add? Also i was looking at the PSU calculator on newegg and other sites with more advance ones and it said(including optical drives and usb drives) this setup with the upgrades only requires 790 watts...? Really? I felt that was REALLY low i was expecting atleast 900, but if it really is that low i light buy a modular PSU to rid my case of all those useless cables. What you guys think !
  6. Im sure this problem is solved, but i feel as though you could record what the camera sees using software that comes with the computer. 99.99% of the time there is some bloatware that is used for video recording. I feel that if you are gone for awhile it might make a HUGE file but maybe not it might compress as it records. Also you can buy actual nanny cams on ebay for like 10$ and a rf reciver for them for like 15$ and they run off DC (9v) or a standard wall outlet. I bought a set of 4 like 3 years ago on ebay with the receiver for like 30$ shipped. The ones i bought dont record sound though. it outputs to a simple video cord (yellow one) and you can record it with a vcr or most computers that have a VGA instead of onboard graphics.
  7. I have screamed at my phone MANY times. Typically when i flash a rom and my phone commits suicide and jumps into a hard brick. But i have never had any issues, i guess it is possible. Older (and probably still but idk for new stuff) mics had a diaphragm in them and it would be moved by sound, so in theory if it moved to much it could break.... I think i need to make a video of myself scream testing microphones.
  8. XFCE for my netbook, Gnome2/maybe kde for my desktop.
  9. haha so true. I read somewhere about someone posting a help question for a take home test and the teacher responded tot he post with the class name location and time and a request to come see him. I think it was on answers.com or something.
  10. I was wondering a bunch of things today when i was cleaning out my computer. It was mad dusty and all, i was cleaning my dust sheilds and then i counted my fans. I have: 240mm blowhole (but it is more a suck hole for it sucks air in) 2 120mm on the front for intake 1 120 on my radiator that is exhaust 1 120 side mounted as exhaust also. Is there like a rule of thumb for this? Should my exhaust match my intake? I mean in a perfect world of course. my computer runs nice and cool, but i was just wondering. I also was wondering if i plug a wireless card that is a PCI-e 1x into a PCI-e 16x if I will encounter problems? My wireless card died the other day but it was like 4 years old and its time was up (old cisco pci card) My mobo has 2 pcie 1x slots but one is blocked by my radiator for my cpu cooler and the other is in between my Graphics cards and not an option. I was going to buy a nice range wireless card (bout 100$) so i dont have to use this belkin usb adapter. Something random to. I have a pci usb expansion card that i plug the usb wireless adapter into and the adapter has to be upside down. Any suggestions? Now I have one more question. Misc mainly. Who runs/owns a home server? What do you use it for? I ask because I have 5 500 gb hard-drives that all work from some old dell pcs i got for free and i figured i could make a little home media sever, but idk what use it would be. Maybe web hosting, but i only get 75 mbps down and 15 up so i wasn't sure if i could host a site from my home. I have most of the stuff to make the server excluding a mobo and processor so i figure i can do it for like 250-300 bucks and if it has practical use i will do it for sure. i always wanted to call myself a server admin Thanks peeps ~5imp7y
  11. Thank you all, sorry for the late response I have been frantically trying to edit it and all that non-sense and it just wont freaking upload. Luckily I got an extension, and i think i figured it out, there is an error somewhere in the ftp and i just need to ssh to astro (the program) and delete everything then re-upload so it should be up and fixed soon. As far as converting to png images, should i just pop it into photoshop and re-save it as a png? oh yeah and systems_glitch: I rock a fountain pen everyday of my life man. Holding a lamy safari right now. And both you guys, i rock a zippo regularly. i have 4 though i have bout at least 15. Thanks again for the help. Maybe ill actually make a review site. it is a good way to get free shizz Edit: Well i also just realized my form is not working. i completely gaped that it wasn't working.
  12. The only Tech prank i pulled in my school was this. They used a virtual image for every student. To log into our system it was username for the username and password for the password. Everyone had the same login and thusly everyone would get the same "student" image. Well I noticed that if i saved something all the computers could see it. So i went to this random computer in the IEP room that no one ever used and made a little batch file to shut down the computer. I then named it Internet Explorer and gave it internet explorers image for the file. I delete the IE short cut and replaced it. I never got caught, but it took nearly 2 weeks for them to figure it out.... haha my school was special ed in all ways. but i did graduate number 2 in my class but there was only 14 students in my graduating class also haha
  13. I have this stupidly basic site that i have to make. I was assign to make a site that i would post reviews on. Well i made it super basic. took me about 3 hours maybe a little less, and now i have it up and when i was checking it out on my phone, it loads fairly slow, which im fairly sure is because i have a fair amount of images. Now i was wondering if there was a way i could make it faster? Also i posted a few weeks back asking for help with making a mobile version. I ended up kicking the idea for it isnt required and would require more effort than i am willing to put forward for no return Well here is the link, im putting the whole url here so everyone knows it is hosted so deep... astro.temple.edu/~tud51411/index.html Any pointers, suggestions, maybe errors i have missed, ect. Thanks Peeps, ~5imp7y ps there is an error or well formatting issue i am aware of, on the interactive images (image map) it isnt centered. I haven't figured it out yet, but i think it just isnt uploading my editing copy right. some ftp issue i think... <center> tags are there in my dreamweaver copy but not online no matter how many times i upload it.....
  14. or a bad cord. I had the same problem on my gtx 460. Black and white stripes vertical on the screen slowly moving to the right. I used a diff cord and it worked fine.
  15. Once again i get put in some easy and tiresome web development class here at my university. I have to make a web page.... 5 pages, galary, submit form, mailto and href...blah blah blah. I really want to wow the teacher, and somthing that i tought would be nice would be the option for mobile access and a secure line (https). I have the php server side down, but i have no clue how to impliment browser detection...? Im faily sure it is done through java. Anyone have any good lituratue for me? Hopfully somthing a little more idiot proff than this >> http://jibbering.com/faq/notes/detect-browser/#bdFD Thanks. Btw, my knowledge in java is trivial on a good day. C++ im intermediate and html im an advance user. Thanks everyone. Binrev lives forever.
