  1. Google Voice has no advertising.
  2. Invites have been getting sent out the last 2 days. i just got mine set up now. It is completely differnt then Google Talk. This is a system to really unite all of your phones with many added features. http://www.google.com/googlevoice/about.html (Watch the videos on that page to see all the features.) I now present the first 'Trick' of getting free minutes on your cell provider. If your plan has the My faves, or Friends and Family type of plan you could setup the Google Voice number as one of those. The you can call into your number to the voice mail system and have it connect you directly to any US number! You also could call into the voicemail to avoid long distance charges if your service charges them, or from a number without long distance access.
  3. So Google Voice is starting to roll out to the public. I have looked over all the features and look forward to it. I was wondering what ideas others would have on things that Google Voice could be used for, tricks and tips.
  4. On the same topic..... What can be done with Blue Tooth? I turned mine on and scanned at a club the other night and there were a dozen or so open. Can I send a message? get info?
  5. DO NOT DO THIS !@! It can be a severe crime to transfer a call from a correctional facility. Calls ARE monitored, and when they hear said inmate accessing a PBX or connecting to outside numbers from that dialed the police WILL be knocking at your door. Discussing the theories of how this could be done is fine. It may even have some other uses that are legal. However I emplore anyone to NOT set this up for a prisoner phone system.
  6. I run a nonprofit that helps on some missing persons searches. When we have a major search one thing I would like is to have a Inbound Call Center setup at our search center. In the past we contracted with a company to bring in a sat truck and the phone bank. I was wondering if there is any way I could set a smaller one up almost right away when we set up a center. One though I have is the possibility of a Skye account since it is mobile anywhere I can access internet. Another option I was looking at is Magic Jack. Both of these options are good for a single line. Is there a way to expand any of these to a 2-10 phone bank? Any other options?
  7. I recommend: www.radioreference.com They have a immense database of frequencies and systems all around the country. You need to know what specifics your area uses before you can decide what scanner to get. They also have a forum that is broken into regional areas, with many helpful persons.
  8. Im going to do the same thing. In my setup though I have to go from S-Video to RCA. I already have seen the converters though.
  9. Very good digital zoom.
  10. they actually were proposing just such Orwellian tactics in Utah this year. luckily there was much outrage and the bill was shot down. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=5507791
  11. Now that would be awesome. Find a way where you can set it up, then access it remotely at the correct time.
  12. I live in Utah and use the mountain peaks here. There is Farnsworth (named after inventor of T.V.) Ensign, Snowbird, and Antelope
  13. came across this on Digg. Thought that you all might like it: http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2006/0410/063.html
  14. Sure the espionage ideas are great. But I also see this easily marketable to general consumers. You are supposed to save copies of most all tax, bills, pay stubs, and other information for at least 7 years. This adds up to a TON of paper. If your like me its also very unorganized. Imagine now with this new Scanner/Shredder you get your monthly bills, and documents. You slide them into the unit they are scanned into your system, organized into a folder for that month, then they are shredded and ready to be thrown out safely. I would love to build something like this if I knew how. It could really take off.
  15. Seems that almost every night at 8pm Google locks me out until 11-12. I cannot access my Google Homepage, or any other Google sites. I also cannot even search with Google Toolbar. The problem exists with FF and IE both are up to date. I just completed full checks with anti-virus, and spybot software with no luck. Anyone have any ideas? or ever hear of something similar?
