  1. Hello, my name is Lazerethereum. I used to read and post on these forums about ten years ago, I was interested in protecting my privacy, learning, programming and just all around trying to better myself though knowledge and learning new things. Unfortunately life threw me some curve balls and I was disinterested and quit my hobby/profession in computers. I've realized that the knowledge I previously had was vital to protecting myself and my privacy and this is why I want to come back to learn, read, and contribute to this community with intelligent and well thought out posts. I am really excited to start up my hobby again in computers and I hope the community is the same as it was ten years ago. My Goals Include: 1. Re-learning: Operating Systems ( I used to run mainly Ubuntu Linux, and I knew Windows quite well, due to the fact that the majority of people ran it back then) 2. Programming: Mainly C and some Visual Basic, Python, Perl, etc... However C was what I was interested in mostly and K&R C programming book was my bible back then), 3. Security: Setting up my Home network with a decent Firewall and learning the things I need to do to protect my computer mainly and I enjoy helping friends and family if they need any type of computer help. 4. Phreaking: Learning different Phone System and how they work. I understand that this is a tedious process that requires reading tons of tutorials, books, and other papers.I however find it fun and enjoy the challenges that come up and finally fixing them, it is one of the best feelings in the world and I find a lot of satisfaction from it. Things are extremely different than it was ten years ago so I basically am going to start all the way over from scratch and re-learn the basics. If anyone can point me in the right direction or give me some tips on what things I should be learning I would be very grateful and appreciate it very much until then I plan on reading every post in Newbie Head Quarters and hopefully find some ideas on what projects I should start up and what things I should be learning/reading. Thank you all very much for you're time and I hope to learn lots of things regarding computer security, networking, and programming and eventually be able to contribute to this community and help others with problems they encounter. Also, I do want to thank Ohms, Blackratchet, Stankdawg and others that I cannot remember off the top of my head for contributing a lot back then. I did learn a lot of cool things because you guys were patient, enthusiastic, and generally great people who showed a lot of people how to secure their home networks and have privacy in a day and age where that is rare. Sincerely, Lazerethereum
