  1. I am using Ubuntu Hardy Heroine, since it's release. Since running it i've gotten a few issues that I cannot find solutions to. I was hoping the binrev community might be able to help me with that. 1.) FireFox after a while of use starts acting funny, mostly when the computer sits idle for a few hours. However it does not happen all the time. What it does it lags, and has no sound for anything audio related. The audio still works on everything else except FF. I have to close firefox, than kill the proc in order to restart it, before it starts working correctly again. While i've dealt with this a long time, it just gets annoying. Any thoughts? 2.) Sometimes when restarting the machine (after its been acting up) it will hang on a blank screen saying *Killing ALSA...* it'll sit there until I hard boot it. 3.) Cario-Dock crashes after a while of use. I have the dock set to hide until scrolled over, and sometimes it just never comes back up. ... last but not least 4.) I have my windows machines networked with my Ubuntu machine. I set it up to be able to print to the printer hooked to my XP machine. Everything goes good until it hits the printer. It seems like the print spool hangs the process onces it hits the XP machine. I can see the print queue with the document I am trying to print on the XP machine, and sometimes the printer will say printing, but it just hangs from there. I have to kill my Ubuntu machine before I can kill the queue to print other things. These are the little things that I cannot figure out, not matter how much I google, and to no avail of asking friends. If anyone has any insight please feel free to help.
  2. Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good trivial based IRC Bot? I am looking for one that I can obviouly customize the question/answers, keep track of top 3 highscores, and be able to reset highscores anytime I want. I googled around but nothing popped out that had what I wanted (they may have it but not by the desc).
  3. So I got the windows version of Java installed under WINE and every time I go to start that app I get an error log associated with java. For some reason I do not think i'll be getting this working under linux unless I run vmware with windows. Unless you have any other ideas I think that's what i'll do. If you do or do not have any better idea's I do appreciate your trying to help. # # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: # # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x00000000, pid=24, tid=39 # # JRE version: 6.0_17-b04 # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (14.3-b01 mixed mode, sharing windows-x86 ) # Problematic frame: # C 0x00000000 # # If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit: # http://java.sun.com/webapps/bugreport/crash.jsp # The crash happened outside the Java Virtual Machine in native code. # See problematic frame for where to report the bug. # --------------- T H R E A D --------------- Current thread (0x0298b800): JavaThread "AWT-Windows" daemon [_thread_in_native, id=39, stack(0x7d9ac000,0x7daad000)] siginfo: ExceptionCode=0xc0000005, reading address 0x00000000 Registers: EAX=0x02fd4c50, EBX=0x60ed4ff4, ECX=0x02df4ec4, EDX=0x0016cf4d ESP=0x7daaad74, EBP=0x7daaad90, ESI=0x02df4ec0, EDI=0x7daaae24 EIP=0x00000000, EFLAGS=0x00210206 Top of Stack: (sp=0x7daaad74) 0x7daaad74: 60e46255 02fd4c50 00000001 00000405 0x7daaad84: 00000437 60ed4ff4 02df4ec0 7daaadc0 0x7daaad94: 60e69260 02df4ec0 7daaae24 60e06578 0x7daaada4: 0013a100 032c4cb8 00000001 60e7cd16 0x7daaadb4: 60dc7ff4 60dc7ff4 00000000 7daaae10 0x7daaadc4: 60db0473 02df4ec0 7daaae24 01e69260 0x7daaadd4: 001678b8 7daaae94 00000000 00000000 0x7daaade4: 00000320 00000258 00000000 7bc3313f Instructions: (pc=0x00000000) 0xfffffff0: Stack: [0x7d9ac000,0x7daad000], sp=0x7daaad74, free space=1019k Java frames: (J=compiled Java code, j=interpreted, Vv=VM code) j sun.awt.windows.WToolkit.eventLoop()V+0 j sun.awt.windows.WToolkit.run()V+69 j java.lang.Thread.run()V+11 v ~StubRoutines::call_stub --------------- P R O C E S S --------------- Java Threads: ( => current thread ) 0x006eb400 JavaThread "D3D Screen Updater" daemon [_thread_blocked, id=42, stack(0x7ce1f000,0x7cf20000)] 0x00654400 JavaThread "DestroyJavaVM" [_thread_blocked, id=26, stack(0x7e56c000,0x7e66d000)] 0x02aaec00 JavaThread "AWT-EventQueue-0" [_thread_in_native, id=41, stack(0x7cf6c000,0x7d06d000)] 0x029d4400 JavaThread "Image Fetcher 0" daemon [_thread_blocked, id=40, stack(0x7d06d000,0x7d16e000)] =>0x0298b800 JavaThread "AWT-Windows" daemon [_thread_in_native, id=39, stack(0x7d9ac000,0x7daad000)] 0x02989c00 JavaThread "AWT-Shutdown" [_thread_blocked, id=38, stack(0x7daad000,0x7dbae000)] 0x02988800 JavaThread "Java2D Disposer" daemon [_thread_blocked, id=37, stack(0x7dbae000,0x7dcaf000)] 0x0292a000 JavaThread "Low Memory Detector" daemon [_thread_blocked, id=33, stack(0x7de65000,0x7df66000)] 0x02923800 JavaThread "CompilerThread0" daemon [_thread_blocked, id=32, stack(0x7df66000,0x7e067000)] 0x02922000 JavaThread "Attach Listener" daemon [_thread_blocked, id=31, stack(0x7e067000,0x7e168000)] 0x02920c00 JavaThread "Signal Dispatcher" daemon [_thread_blocked, id=30, stack(0x7e168000,0x7e269000)] 0x0067bc00 JavaThread "Finalizer" daemon [_thread_blocked, id=29, stack(0x7e269000,0x7e36a000)] 0x0067a800 JavaThread "Reference Handler" daemon [_thread_blocked, id=28, stack(0x7e36a000,0x7e46b000)] Other Threads: 0x00678c00 VMThread [stack: 0x7e46b000,0x7e56c000] [id=27] 0x0292b800 WatcherThread [stack: 0x7dd64000,0x7de65000] [id=34] VM state:not at safepoint (normal execution) VM Mutex/Monitor currently owned by a thread: None Heap def new generation total 960K, used 766K [0x22870000, 0x22970000, 0x22d50000) eden space 896K, 78% used [0x22870000, 0x2291fb80, 0x22950000) from space 64K, 100% used [0x22950000, 0x22960000, 0x22960000) to space 64K, 0% used [0x22960000, 0x22960000, 0x22970000) tenured generation total 4096K, used 1646K [0x22d50000, 0x23150000, 0x26870000) the space 4096K, 40% used [0x22d50000, 0x22eebba8, 0x22eebc00, 0x23150000) compacting perm gen total 12288K, used 1133K [0x26870000, 0x27470000, 0x2a870000) the space 12288K, 9% used [0x26870000, 0x2698b4c0, 0x2698b600, 0x27470000) ro space 8192K, 63% used [0x2a870000, 0x2ad88b20, 0x2ad88c00, 0x2b070000) rw space 12288K, 53% used [0x2b070000, 0x2b6e5138, 0x2b6e5200, 0x2bc70000) Dynamic libraries: 0x00400000 -   4. to weed myself from windows as much as possible, and yet still get all the functionality I need/want I was wondering how it would be possible to run these exam sims. I took a screenshot to help with the matter. I installed java and used java -version to make sure it was installed correctly. Any help would be greatly appriciated. If this is not possible I do have vmware XP Pro/Win7 I can use.
  5. Although i've looked around the web for these answers I do not feel i've came to a consensus of what I am doing. So I figure why not ask the wondeful world of <BR> First... I want to make all my windows transparent, and possibly a different theme. I've been reading a lot on Compiz but im not 100% sure that's the direction I want to take, or if it will indeed help me with my overall goal. Any thoughts? I always see lots of peoples linux desktops with system performance monitors on the side like it was a widget, a nice theme, and transparent windows. It's been eye catching to me and I just want to set it up that way. Second... Which kind of goes hand and hand with the first. I got a GDK theme from gnome-look.org and I want to set it up, I just have no idea where to begin. For reference this is what I downloaded http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Tease?content=112354. Thanks in advance! =)
  6. Honestly it's not a bad product by far. It way out weighs Microsofts "Windows Live One Care". It is not resource heavy at all, and does a better job than most if not all of the free virus/spyware products out there. My teacher turned me onto it, and they use it on all the pc's at school.
  7. This has happened to me, however the email I used to sign up at binrev in 2004 is no longer valid. Thus why I made a new handle. I am formaly known as xxthugstylezxx. Also which I believe would be the benfit of binrev members is to have a info@binre.com or help@binrev.com. Which there probably is but it wasn't publicly accessable from the site. If an admin could change my email address for me it would be greatly appriciated. I can PM with what old email was and what the new/current one is if need be.
