  4. "Reports of the death of K T Ligesh, 32, come in the wake of the exploitation of a critical vulnerability in HyperVM, a virtualization application made by LXLabs, to wipe out data on 100,000 sites hosted by the UK web hosting firm VAserv." Its spooky
  5. I have an ADSL broadband modem/router which supports administration using ssh connection, i need to find out the ssh key of that device so that i can autologin using some bash script and do some fancy stuff..How can i do that, sadly the router is showing me some menu oriented interface not a shell .. any clues?, currently i am using a tool called "expect" to automate the login process
  6. If you can't find it there, contact the manufacturer and ask them. I am trying to do authentication with SSK key instead of using a password..I know the password of my router oops i misunderstood ssh key authentication, i need to copy my clients public key to the modem is it possible? ( )
  7. i have an old desktop machine, which has intel 845GVSR motherboard with onboard LAN, I dual boot the machine (debian and windoze), while booting debian it clearly says "eeprom corrupted" and i am not able to connect the LAN from both in debian and windows.... what should i do?, updating bios will work?

  9. We have a webserver in dmz zone, the firewall appliance is sonciwall.Earlier the webserver got only iis in it and it used port 80 and is accessible from world wide web, recently we installed wamp in it and started apache in port 8080, we have a drupal based website hosted in apache. The website in apache is accessible from local network(private), but cant get it from world wide web, port scanning says port 8080 is not open. Where should i open the port firewall or router (port forwarding) ?
  10. I have added exactly the same rule as you said, but still cannot access apache which is listening on port 8080.. when connecting from LAN to DMZ it works but WAN to DMZ the connection is refused the firewall appliance is SonicWALL PRO 5060 edit: did it .First i added a "access rule" to open the port Second added NAT rules in the firewall Thats it

  13. Hi, I have written an udev rule, so that it connects me to the internet when i plug-in my mobile device... Here is the rule: KERNEL=="ttyACM0",SUBSYSTEM=="tty",ATTRS{manufacturer}=="Nokia",ATTRS{product}=="Nokia 3110c",RUN+="/usr/bin/wvdial" Here is my whole blog post on writing udev rules. If you have writtern any udev rules please mention them here........
  14. Hi, today morning i looked into my /var/log/secure i saw some one from (i dont know whether its legal to disclose the ip address here...if it's not some moderators edit my post or notify me) tried to break into my system.. How can i prevent these type of attacks...(only allowing ssh login from certain computers)
  15. yeah, now i disabled ssh on the interface which helps me connecting the internet.... (changes the listenaddress on /etc/ssh/sshd_config) will it work? Yes you can bind your ssh server to a specific interfaces. From the statement above it would suggest you have bound the service to the internal interfaces only. This is fine providing it does not need to be accessed from the internet. Is this server plugged directly into the internet or is it behind a nat device such as a firewall/router? The reason I ask is that if it is behind a nat device and it does not need to be accessed from the internet then I would also not forward this traffic to the server in the first place. If your server is plugged directly into the internet I would review your firewall rulebase for this service and others to ensure it is tied down as much as possible. Well its directly connected to the internet...the sad part is that i have plenty of services running for ltsp terminal services (nfs,dhcp,tftp)...and i have disabled firewall (iptables)...... I am thinking of re enabling it and configure it properly

  17. well you can get that log from /var/log/secure tac /var/log/secure|more will help you
  18. Hi, i have been working with ltsp for past few months.previously i used ltsp 4.2 which has kernel kit so that we can build our custom kernel and build the ramdisk using build_initramfs script. The script is not working for kernels above 2.6.23 (some one please tell why its not working and if possible give me a fix) . So i switched to ltsp5. They have changed a lot in ltsp5. i got the k12 ltsp live cd and booted i copied the kernel, ramdisk and nfs root (i386 directory) and used them in my fedora core 9.It booted up smoothly and i got the k12 login page......But when i give the user name and password i am not able to login (some one tell why?) it seems to be they are not using xdm and xdmcp ..instead they are using ldm (some kind of X forwarding through ssh i am not sure about this). so i switched back to custom kernel(2.6.23) builded my build_initramfs of ltsp 4.2, the /opt/ltsp/i386 is from k12ltsp only ,Then i enabled xdmcp through kdm..I configured the second screen in lts.conf so that i get a bash shell. In that bash shell i invoked X using (X -query <xservers ip> :1 )now i am getting kdm login screen and now i am able to login........ Some one plz tell me 1.How to build custom kernel and ramdisk for ltsp5 2.How should i configure so that i disable ldm and get automatic kdm display instead of typing in X -query <ip> :1 command ? Also i am looking to add some additional wireless drivers inside the ltsp's ramdisk..........
  19. Quite recently one of my network admin has added a squid ACL something like acl num_IPs url_regex ^[0-9]+\.[0-9]+\.[0-9]+\.[0-9]+ http_access deny CONNECT num_IPs all Which blocks direct connect access to an ip address,so this blocks tor, ultrasurf and most of the anonymity softwares..........I asked how can i get access back to tor network, they said proxy chains is a solution.......... please tell me some good really working proxies(which have a domain name ) to chain together with tor....and help me in configuring proxy chains... local (blocking proxy)-> outer proxy (with domain name which is not blocked by local proxy as well)-->tor network......will this chain possible? Thanks in advance
  20. FYI, networking on VirtualBox can be a complete pain in the butt to set up. I have installed and attempted to configure VMs on virtualbox 3 or 4 separate times, and have gotten frustrated with it and uninstalled it as many times. (This is for the normal bridge/passthrough setup, I have not set it to use NAT or any other options.) If you use NAT then i guess you will not face problems in virtualbox.but if you want to create a bridge(i needed it as i want cain to sniff the packets. my host is:fedora and guest is xp) it's really a pain.when i asked this question in virtualbox irc they gave me some script and instructions to do that,i messed with the script for a quiet long time and gave up .
  21. I backed up my data with nero backitup a year back..Also i encrypted it with a password (i used the facility available in nero backitup).... I forget the password there any way to recover it......? I googled for it but nothing is usefull.... My nero version is 6
  22. hi, i am sorry to say that i had no luck.these type of problems occurs (nero backitup) to few people like you and me also nero backitup is not much popular so there is no cracking programs available for it.if you want to find the password you should ask people who could reverse engineer back it up files and crack the hashes for you.Better post it as a programming challenge in programming and code section...Good luck !
  23. I frequently visit #rainbowcrack room to crack the hashes...Please tell me similar free services to crack hashes online...Thanks
  24. I am creating bartpe bootcd......I got a plugin for cain 4.2(can't find cain 4.2 version ) from irongeeks website but it isn't working for 4.9 version of cain (its not detecting the network interfaces...of course i got the nic drivers inside the boot cd and they are working)....I googled a lot but can't find a tutorial on how to create bartpe plugins..It will be nice if someone could give me a link or article on how to create those plugins. And also is there any good alternative to bartPe..i mean is there any other better things like bartPE?
