  7. This is getting on my last nerve :grr: I keep getting the error that I can not have permission to write the file. I am logged in as root Here are some errors I got with installing programs: BitchX Error John@Desktop4:~$ cd BitchX John@Desktop4:~/BitchX$ ./configure Welcome to the BitchX-1.1-final configuration checking for gcc... gcc checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables John@Desktop4:~/BitchX$ And heres a ss of what happens when I try to write to File System(The HD) I am logged in with a username I created and I am assuming it is root unless there is another account to use(root)? -snapple
  8. Awww. I don't have the cd on hand . Also the sudo bash does make it root(thanks.) I am trying to find a way to manually install build-essential without the cd. Edit: I found this I am reading up on it but theirs no clear stating but rather shows a few compilers??
  9. So basically one you burn to a cd as an iso you put the cd and boot from cd and you can either use it as a LiveCD or install it.
  10. A friend of mine rents a box just like anyone else. But he heard that you can pay a certain amount to your monthly payment and by the end of the year own the box and only have to pay for bandwith. So in the end you would have ownership of the box. He is looking for a nyc datacenter that would do this. Any suggestions?
  11. Can you post those sites would help alot
  12. OPHcrack is bootable and all you do is boot from cd and it will crack the SAM hash pretty quickly.
  13. Well for me luckily my wireless card was out of the box compatible. If it not then you would want a prism 2.5 type card. I believe everything that comes with backtrack can be installed on ubuntu. Ubuntu is great because of the generic drivers it comes with. Anyone want to add to this?
  14. Gutsy(Ubuntu v7.10) is good for people new to linux. Backtrack2 is meant for pen testing.
  15. Still doesn't work. Heres the error log. Also quick question I am logging in with the only user account I made which should be root correct? Error: John@Desktop4:~$ cd BitchX John@Desktop4:~/BitchX$ ./configure Welcome to the BitchX-1.1-final configuration checking for gcc... gcc checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables John@Desktop4:~/BitchX$ sudo ./configure [sudo] password for John: Welcome to the BitchX-1.1-final configuration checking for gcc... gcc checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables John@Desktop4:~/BitchX$

  21. Happy Birthday! Great part of binvev!

  22. Hey gloomer whats up?

  23. See I want to have the same security as if it were my own network. SSH'ing to a desktop is one option but what are some others? Email was an example. I mean any site where you enter a username or password.
