  1. you should be able to copy your files from linux to vista, but vista will not/should not be able to view the linux files. basically you just have to copy all the files and then format linux to ntfs if you dont want to duel boot so then it will show up for vista to use. you will have to copy the files before you format ubuntu? as that will delete everything. or you can just copy all your files to flashdrive and part the whole drive for a fresh vista install. Actually i did find some programs...with the power on google....http://www.howtoforge.com/access-linux-partitions-from-windows, i found it and some other guy from around forum backed it up
  2. I recently downloaded Windows Vista on a separate partition from my linux , but the thing is i actually wanted to completely convert to Vista. So i was wondering if i could access files from my linux partition from linux or should i just dual boot it and save important files on a flash disk.....
  3. well theres a issue coming up that i keep getting this.....E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it? ...and i know im stupid...i dont know what to do next...i need to update my flash player..
  4. well thanks.....i havnt used this crap in a while...
  5. I was trying to delete my old version of Firefox but it said i need to use the Synaptic Package Manger, and when i did it said that i needed to config 'dpkg --configure -a' and when i put it in the terminal it said that i need superuser privileges....and i kinda dont know what that is.....and i really cant do touch anything without dpkg --configure -a getting in the way. and im running Unbuntu.
  6. it probably relies on stuff that wine fails to emulate correctly, so maybe you could try with a windows virtual machine with USB direct access for the guest OS, or a maybe a BartPE Windows live CD would be enough. is that the only way ... i was hoping for a quickpwn or pwnage tool for linux
  7. well yeah i googled it and i downloaded quickpwn to jailbreak the iphone 3g but it wont open and i have wine and everything so is there a quick download for linux to jailbreak the iphone 3g quickly
  8. well i want to edit my iphone from itunes but im not sure it just crashes so much so i want to know if theres anything i can use to edit like music and ringtones and stuff from the ipod part that would be great because most of the stuff i found on google require for me to jailbreak my iphone but i really dont want to do that
  9. hey i havnt been here a long ass time but thats besides the point i have wine and i downloaded Dvd FLick and when i put the .avi file it freezes (turns dark gray) and then nothing happened so i tried others like dvd styler and they arent anywhere as easy or fast as dvd flick any ideas ?
  10. well yes a couple times and i kept trying and then it says "requested operation requires superuser privilege" which i dont get because i am the admin
  11. everytime i go to the update manger or something like the add/remove or install a package this always pops up E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed, please report. and im not sure what it means and yeah i cant update or download anything
  12. yeah i dont know what just happened it started working its a little weird...i guess switching everything to alsa worked
  13. If you go to System/Preferences/Sound Are you using ALSA for about everything? if not, try that. um no the only thing with alsa is the audio conferencing - sound capture and the default mixer tracks - device says HDA intel (alsamixer) the rest is on autodetect try putting them on ALSA and see what happens... the others like OSS seem to not like to share output. Also there is a quirk I've found with firefox that sometimes audio output will stop with a message like xmms server busy or something.. when I killed firefox (all firefoxs, had to go to the system_monitor to get em all) it started working again. everything is on alsar and still no sound but no the video plays 2 secs then like stops.....
  14. If you go to System/Preferences/Sound Are you using ALSA for about everything? if not, try that. um no the only thing with alsa is the audio conferencing - sound capture and the default mixer tracks - device says HDA intel (alsamixer) the rest is on autodetect
  15. i have ubuntu and ever since i update there has been a issue with the sound. Amarok just stopped working so i gave up on it and rhythmbox works at times but some times it just wont play any music and the same issue occurs in online videos like youtube and metacafe and i checked alsamixer its all up i see nothing wrong there i was wondering what i can do
