  1. College is nessecary because everyone 'thinks' that it is. Today its just a business that pumps the kids who can pay the bill. As more and more suburban students were born, more of them began to attend this schoolastic nightmare we call college where your typical accredited university banks on dorm fees and tuition payments and parking tickets. In return we get a multiple choice education where the answer may or may not be 'all of the above' depending on how one looks at it. This mainstream flow has caused a 'general' acceptence level of education and is now being standardized as highschool was 20 or 30 years ago. Eventually there will come a time when a highschool education or ged will not get you those high paying jobs at a young age only experience will. Current profesionals have told me that THEY have been told they'll never be managers at major companies/institutions without and MBA or equivalant. If one were to skip college, which I wish was a more plaudable alternative; experience and certs play a role...the rest is who you know. You will literally have to climb the ladder from the bottom. A college education will put you a few rungs up regardless of experience and certifications. However; don't be fooled into thinking just a degree will get you ahead. I know more idiots with degrees in CS that couldn't do nearly what you'd expect them to be capable of. The problem with school is that it is very unapplicable. If you want to be a true "well-rounded student" then you'll need work experience related to your field of choice, not wegmans cashier or a toll both attendant. If you want to be a step ahead of the game, you'll have certifcations (low level obviously) that prove what you have learned about your field so far (aside from school learning). I'm graduating this summer and what i've heard from many IT professionals is that grades don't really mean shit. Get the degree on your paper and be done with it. In order to promote your knowledge of programming/computers that you've learned outside of school then you must get certifications, ever if you are super-leet programmer w/e with 30 years experience, your next employer doesn't know how good you are unless you've reached certain accepted milestones. The moral of all this nonsense is that if one wants to be as succesful as possible and is not some gifted golden child then they have to look at EVERY aspect of self actualization.
  2. Why wouldn't you hire real actors and just have computer guys tell them what to say....?
  3. uhm...will your school let you map your shared drive space to dns like that? not sure if your IT dept will just let you assign a domain name. Also if this is just your personal page where most of your hits will be through linkage then the domain name really doesnt matter. If you are trying to gain revenue and higher SEO then you need to use keywords that relate to the content of your site. If your writing tutorials on C then.... ctutorials.com or something(prolly taken) Maybe for content adding and subtracting and community input just have a forum. That way most of the work is done for you.
  4. lulz, this is hilarious. I wouldn't worry so much about ad revenue i mean come on...how much do you really think you'd make off this at like .005cents per click. btw I was under the impression that any signal coming into your house is fair game... Why wouldn't police use encryption or other forms of communication if their transmissions were so "confidential." Unless of course the OP is using a more deviant method to pick up these signals idk...
  5. Yep, usually how it goes....soon Watchout will come in and make such an antagonizing and condescending post that everyone reading will want to kill themselves, then one of the mods will come in and break up the whole party.
  6. Okay you win, damn .. I guess we just looked at it from different perspectives.
  7. I guess I wasn't referring to anybody in particular. I was referring to the attitude that that I drew from the quoted statements; "If you don't know stuff about computers you're an idiot."
  8. "24,95$" per idiot.. No offense to you dude but this is the kind of attitude I dislike. Just because somebody would buy a book like this doesn't mean they are an 'idiot.' Not everyone knows how to gather information on computer insecurity and the people interested are unique in that way because they know/knew how to find/research it. Those very same people; including yourself, also know that some information can be very difficult to find. The general population simply does not care about this shit, they just want it to work when they need to use it thats why they count on people like us. To call some an idiot for not knowing is ignorant imo just as somebody would call you an idiot for not knowing things like investing, or golf or whatever fuckin hobby one may be into.
  9. You fucking kidding me dude? I did a little reading on this dude over at DG and imo he fits the model of script kiddie bitch...
  10. Godamnit, if only I could be a rich columbian drug traffiker who actually has the money to put into one of these accounts if it existed....oh well, ** dream ends...back to my minimum wage lowlevel IT job
  11. DHCP, as verizons static fios package is like 200 dollars a month or something so f that
  12. Seems like TrainReq has made some friends ... http://forums.hellaadds.com/showthread.php?p=12
  13. shes ... sooo... hott... and young :nono:
  14. My favorite part of this thread...
  15. You have to enable your vista box to do ip forwarding
  16. I don't know how to implement it into nmap c0z I haven't really messed with it. But when you initiate a TCP connection with another computer packets are being sent back and fourth. A TCP sequence number would be contained in the header of the packet. Think of sending 1000 envelopes to the post office in sequential order with a number on each one. The attack you are asking about is similar to a MITM attack in the sense that you are hijacking the session. As one computer sends another computer a packet, you would send a forged packet to the target with the the expected 'return' sequence number of its intended host/client before the real computer can send its own. A DoS would aid you in this..but cause a lot of attention obviously. Cleary we can derive the term 'prediction' because you are guessing what the correct sequence number would be to return.
  17. Haha I was just thinking that. Must be some pretty h4x0rish movie content. Anyways in order to build a website you need a webserver ,but you knew that. Free web hosting companies will allow you create a subdomain on their server so the url you type in would look like: http://www.yoursitename.webhostingname.com (presumably). If you want your own domain name for example: www.myhackingmovie.com you will have to purchase it from a registrar like godaddy.com You can then rent space on a server at various web hosting companies for like $5-10 a month...plus $10 or so a year for a re-registration of your domain name. Since you are hosting videos you have to take secondary storage space into consideration (hard drive memory) because those files are larg(er) than text based content. You will also have to take bandwidth into consideration because webhosters will only allow the world to download so much content a month depending on your plan. These days you can rack up a bill pretty easily. A site like youtube would cost a ridiculous amount of money if they were to outsource their web servers. The advantages however are you will not have to maintain your own technology in the sense that your contracted websever will remain up for 99% of the time depending on the quality standard of the service. (how good the company is) Also depending on the company they could implement some security features that make it more difficult for an attack but certainly not impossible. A lot of times you are responsible for patching/updates because technically its YOUR rented server, when you are done they will just re-image it they could care less about your content. As sleezy as the internet is your plan will be pretty solid in terms of space and bandwidth, you just have to calculate and estimate as to how much you think you'll need based on an extrapolated projection of visits each month. Yes this is confusing at first but its really easy once you get used to it. The disadvantages are well...who likes to pay for shit on the internet? I don't.. Your alternative would be to set up your own. You could: buy a Macintosh with at least 10.4 on it. You probably have one since your doing video editing, maybe not... I fuckin hate macs I own one cause I used to be into film production. They have apache built right into them all you have to do is activate it in the sharing section of system preferences and place the files in the corresponding 'html' folder. Apache is essentially the webserver. It is an application on your computer that can 'serve' html files to whoever visits the page. From here you will have to configure your NAT box (router) to forward port 80 to that internal ip address...again this is assuming your on a LAN. You will also have to call your ISP and get a static IP address assigned to you. If you go to www.whatismyip.com..that is your external address. But its probably assigned via DHCP which means it changes every once in a while. This presents a problem because of the way DNS works...damn you've got a lot to learn sorry haha... In summary...hosting your own web server allows you to configure things that you probably wouldn't even understand at this point. You could set up Linux, 'LAMP' would be your best bet Google that for starters. stands for Linux/apache/mysql/php....industry standard web development tools that are all open source (free). Don't worry about mysql and php at this point but it comes with it for later. The way I learned was I met a friend on the internet who is a web developer. He alloted me some space on his server and gave me an FTP account so that I could upload/download files into the index directory and its children. 'Child' is a term commonly used in programming to denote classes and directories as in a hierarchical structure; parent/child. I went to www.w3cschools.com I think is the site I got it from somebody on this very forum so stick around if you want to learn. This is where you can learn the basics of html and css. From there the sky is the limit. By then you should know how to RESEARCH. The real moral of this story is just ask me in like a week or so if you remember and i'll give you some space as I have a fiberoptic connection with more bandwidth than I know what to do with..literally. I just moved into a new place and plan on setting up a webserver once I get some free time and am not too wasted...I'll give you a space with like 10-20gb or so if you need a little more for your movie thats fine. Idk if your trying to embed and stream it or what but we could work something out. Again I don't really care maybe someone else more skilled than me could help you further its up to you. But having somebody else host it for free for you is the best way to start imo. Sorry for the wall of text but if you really want to pursue this then this segment of my mind is childs play compared to the amount of shit you will be reading. And I think I have add cause I can't pay attention in school so don't worry.
  18. He has already tried your advice, he wasn't being disrespectful. My mistake then, no harm done.
  19. Uhh..I did read your post and I gave you a plausable solution to the problem simply because I had the same one and that solved it. If your going to disrespect the fact that i'm trying to help you in fixing your problem then I won't read your posts because, clearly they're a waste of time.
  20. Stupid company imo. "Here lets hire someone to backup $10k worth of data who has never done this before."
  21. Like user access control? you can turn those things off
  22. Uhm...YES another fellow unreal player... !!! Warfare/deathmatch ftw all fucking day. KILL KILL KILL end0rphine is my handle we should play sometime if you play online with all the older kids
  23. You know I ran into the same problem...I dislike firefox and hate all the people who jump on the bandwagon. its got a lot of plugins...cool... anyways try just restarting the computer and/or reinstalling firefox, thats what I did and It hasn't done this since. I too run vista..proudly.
  24. That picture is retarded, You could be just as productive with one computer and two monitors. Having a plethora of computer screens does not make you l337...
  25. Good call of the 4gb. People complain that "oh its too slow vista sucks and you won't be able to run a vm" are mistaken for their own computers. I had 3 gb ram on my laptop and could run vm's on vista with no problem...its a plus that you won't have to reboot everytime you want to use linux too. fuck xp
