Yea, and it irks me that when watching some of the Biology video lectures about half the time you see "Removed for unclear Copyright Issues" or something to that effect.

I think it is pretty important, that a couple of people sit down and write open source text books, especially with the proce of text books being where they are now. But because of copyright issues, we would have to make sure, that the authors don't just copy from an existing text book. Maybe we can start wrting a calculus text book on docdroppers.

Open source should definitely expand from the Internet community outwards. Math is something that many hackers are knowledgable of and involved in, so why not write a free, open source textbook about it. The same can be applied to all areas of our knowledge. Open source is not restricted to device drivers and operating systems; it's a general philosophy -- open and available information. Write about something. Release open and free.
