Strom submitted a presentation on hacking Smart Cards for the Layer 1 con. History of the phone industry and different mergers. According to AT&T, the telephone was invented in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell. AT&T announces to split up in 1982 to get into computers. In 1999 SWBell buys up Ameritech and Southern New England Telephone whichbecomes SBC. This kicks off more mergers over the next few years. The 4 big players now are AT&T, Verizon, Qwest, and Sprint. AT&T announces that their wireless service will be coming back soon under Cingular.
