I love USWEST. Nice find, they just removed the last USWEST payphone in our town. I was very angry, wasn't I Blacky?

I would be PISSED if they removed any of my US WEST payphones. Check out my YAPL phones (sig) for another US WEST payphone.
whats in that first picture
This is the RPSD - Remote Port Security Device if I recall correctly. I picked it up at a garage sale for a buck. I asked the guy if he knew what it did and he told me he wasn't sure. From what I can tell, it is a device which secures an incoming PBX maintenance line. I powered it up once to see if I could get it to do anything - either through the phone line or through the COM port on the back, but it didn't do anything. I read somewhere that you need a key (right side of device) to unlock it (digitally). Unfortunately the key didn't come with the device so I tossed it.
Here are some images of the book I picked up at the garage sale:

Holdthephone, can I come over and play with your toys?
Yes.

No, this is the PBX for my father's workplace. The first time I saw it, I asked if I could turn it on. He said OK so I pressed the power button on the front of the computer. Of course it was just the monitor that I had to turn on - the server was already running. That was a tense ~15 minutes bringing her up to speed.

Yeah, you would have to dial that phone with the tip of a pen. There was an full-sizr add-on dial which would stick out beyond the edge of the buttset and make it heavier but which allowed you to dial with your finger; IIRC it merely dialed the little dial inside the buttset.look at the rotary dial on this one...

My current tool is a databank watch I got from Radioshack, I use it to store toll-free numbers for field phreaking from payphones anywhere.
