to add a wallpaper that will inititalize when you restart flux, add the following line to your ~/.fluxbox/init file:

session.screen0.rootCommand: fbsetbg -f mypicture.png

I just posted a fluxbox "make over" guide at my forums. It should help you. People can point out errors and their fluxbox tweaks, of course.

Remember to run '#fluxbox -generate_menu' after you install a new program to add it to your fluxbox menu. I found this a lot easier than manually editing ~/.fluxbox/menu to add a newly installed application.

I may have been overlooking something obvious when I tired Fluxbox but how do I enable the cool looking stat bar thingy?

lol, that's not fluxbox, that's a program called gkrellm, and yes it's very nice, has all kinds of useful plugins too. http://www.gkrellm.net

EDIT: Also I figured I'd tell you all something kinda sad that I heard on irc, the person responsable for the fluxbox ebuild is pretty involved with fluxbox, and he was saying that there will not be a 1.0 for a long time, because for some weird reason, they decided to redo all the menu/config code, before going 1.0.. :(

But oh well, I use fvwm now, it's better than fluxbox anyway :P
