I was using Cellrevealer.com to figure out who the hell was calling me, and it was actually free and accurate. Now they've switched to some system to punt you off to a third party that you need to pay to use. Are there any of these free reverse lookup sites left that are actually free and not just claiming to be?

My favorite right now is http://www.tnid.us . I think it uses the CNAM database and sometimes it tells you if the number has been ported to a different carrier.

Perhaps I'm wording it wrong. Cellrevealer was once able to give you the full name of the person the phone number was operated by. I had tested this with my own cell number and it was accurate. tnid.us will tell you the carrier, but if you want the name it directs you to another site that asks for all of your monies.

Sometimes tnid will give you the name too. It currently gives the name on one of my own numbers. But it doesn't seem like it's as good as it used to be.

I have the same question. I was using searchbug.com which had free phone number lookups and would give you name and address. This was based on published phone numbers. For cellphones, it would give you the name in rare cases but usually would just give you the carrier and general location. However it was really useful for getting name and address for listed phone numbers! Whitepages.com used to do this as well. Now it seems impossible to find anyplace where you can get name/address from a phone number for free.
Usually I use this when someone asks me "hey I got a call from xxx-yyy-zzzz, who is that?". I look it up and play the hero
But it is not worth even the 99c to US$3 that the sites are asking, just to find out you got a wrong number.
Anyone have a good link for free reverse lookups?

http://tnID.us will be back online, in it's full glory, soon. The site is undergoing a large backend rewrite and complete database change.

I think I'm going to try to get my hands on a phonebook or phonebook CD and compile my own list of listed phone numbers, just for fun. Going to take forever, but it should be helpful for some people trying to look up phone numbers. As for unlisted phone numbers, though, that's a whole nother story.

why not just use http://wp.superpages.com for listed numbers?
http://tnid.us is still the best for everything not listed..
