I'm thinking about turning a personal project into a proper PCB. Generally I use Eagle CAD, but this project is large enough that I'd have to spend several hundred dollars on upgrading my license. I've been considering switching to KiCAD for a while since it's open source and apparently mature enough for complex designs (all of the N8VEM homebrew computer projects are designed with KiCAD). Seems silly to spend several hundred dollars on hobby projects, especially when I plan on releasing the hardware design as open-source hardware! Sort of defeats my intended purpose if future developers would have to purchase an expensive CAD package.
Anyone use KiCAD?
