I work at a company where we have to make outbound calls. The following numbers just pick up and beep once. It acts like an instant voice mail and it proceeds by beeping a couple of times then hangs up. Just wondering what this could be and thought I would share this interesting find.

573-234-1999 - Rings now. Must have been during a down time. Unknown why but working normal now.
573-449-1416

Are there any numbers that answer with dead air and hang on the line indefinitely when called?

First one goes through for me...are you sure you weren't calling during off-hours or downtime?

You are right I just tried it and its working now. I was calling during peak business hours. I don't know why it acted like that though.
