Hey.. So was told the best way to start understanding languages such as Perl, C and Lisp etc. was to write down the codes over and over until you see a pattern. How do you find the codes though? (pretty basic right?)

Take a look through http://www.github.com -- Github provides access (and now source code searching) to a huge number of public and open source projects. You can look at the code with good syntax highlighting right in your browser. If it's something you are interested in running or looking at a little closer, you can download the source to your computer.
