My computer was set to factory settings by someone other than me and I am trying to get my files back that were on it. Is there any way that I would be able to do this?

Were the BIOS options set to factory settings, or did someone use the system restore disk to reinstall the OS? If it's BIOS settings, you just need to reconfigure the BIOS, or let it run with defaults. My computer was set to factory settings by someone other than me and I am trying to get my files back that were on it. If someone used the restore disk, you'll have to use forensic data recovery tools to try and recover the data that was deleted. When a file is deleted, the reference to it is broken, but it still exists...until something overwrites it. So, if you really want to try and get the data off of the drive, don't use the machine for anything else.
