Im trying to setup a server at a business that will be used with a barcode scanner to scan merchandise. I am completely lost on how to do this, can anyone point me in the correct direction?

Search an scanner connected with your pc, that will be OK. What you need to install is the scanning software.

Quite a few of the USB barcode scanners nowadays just show up as keyboards. When you scan the barcode, the computer interprets it as someone typing the information in. No extra software required.
