guys i was wondering
how to audit telcosystems using iwar & warvox
also
how phreakers make calls to premium phone number using these tools


am completely new to this voip thing so please excuse me for my mistake

the best way to set up premium calling with these tools is to have them dial a range of 900 numbers from your regular old land line.
This way you can scan premium calls while you sleep!


if you get really stuck using these command line programs you can always install windows95 and find a copy of phone tag

Its more likely to be up your ally.

They don't. Or at least I don't. Warvox is really more trouble than it's worth - it takes a horrendous amount of time to analyze call audio, and it doesn't allow you to hear - or even let itself hear audio before supervision.

As for iWar, I really can't speak one way or the other about it. Trying to get the IAX softphone to compile is about as fun as trying to get a cat to take a bath, and when you try it on pre-installed distributions such as Backtrack, it simply doesn't work. Disabling IAX2 support is a different story, but most modems don't have any signal detection beyond busy signals and carriers, so if you're looking for anything besides modems, you might have a problem.

And for all that trouble, they only support IAX2 providers. As it stands right now, very, very few people still offer IAX2 - not even Voicepulse supports it anymore.

So yeah. Maybe it's just the countless scans I've done speaking, but if you want to save yourself some time and trouble, map out any exchanges you might want using your ears, preferably with a landline. There really is no better signal processing or tone recognition software. The disadvantage is, of course, that it takes *your* time, not the time of the closest computer you have to a phone line. Most interesting things tend to be lumped together in a hundred block, though (say, 710-555-0000-0099), and with a little practice, it's easy to narrow these down. Maybe you did not detect the sarcasm in Afterm4th's post but your query about premium rate numbers is illegal and you could land into trouble for this.

Yes. The fact that Google Voice superimposes fake ring over unsupervised calls makes it incredibly inefficient; with any sort of sequential dialing it's the equivalent of being blind, particularly since a good deal of test numbers simply don't supe. For example, if a switch is playing a not in service recording, you'll simply get fake ring indefinitely.


The saying "you get what you pay for" couldn't be more true with phones.

I don't recommend trying to pursue these types of things here, what you are describing sounds pretty illegal ("premium numbers", etc.) As for it actually working, try it out and let us know how it works! This community isn't about asking questions expecting responses but going and trying things out, deductive reasoning of sorts.

Bonus Hint: when using Asterisk to Dial() remember not to use the 'r' option.
