I found a video that compares the rotary dial to the touch tone dial. To help demonstrate the concept, the host used a mini step-by-step switch. In this video and several of his others, the host pokes fun at the fact that moving parts are falling out of favor because....."they move." He has several videos on his Youtube channel from a show he did in Ontario, and I suggest checking them out. I *believe* he mentioned in another video that he worked for the phone company. He's an extremely concise and often humorous instructor, and his examples are very easy to understand.
