Yeah, so I got bored these past few days, fired up GIMP, and made this template of a CA Driver's License. The fonts are wrong, and I'm missing the "DMV" in the corners, but other than that, it seems good to go.

Would it be against the rules for me to post it on BinRev?

Attached is an example I made with good ol' Michael Jackson:

Not to sure about the rules, some what of a grey area. But if you did that from scratch, that is pretty good. I am not to sure if you were actually going for an exact look a like but your template is missing some details such as the symbolic circles and of course the holographs.

That's the old style license, which I'm pretty sure is no longer in circulation.

Yeah they put way to many security marks on them now to make them hard to forge.

I based that off of my Driver's License, which I got renewed in 2009. That being said, my driver's license has one of those red bars on it, which is put on the driver's licenses of people who are under 21, so it might not have as stringent of security measures.

However, if you were making a driver's license in order to get drinks when you're under 21, I believe this would be a better bet, because, really, who gets a fake ID with one of the red bars on it? It just seems more realistic to play a person who just turned 21 a few months ago and hasn't gotten a new ID yet.

I'm gonna modify it a bit more, see if I can add a few more things, I'll upload it no later than tomorrow morning.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks,
FLW

If you used your own license as a template, that would mean you are a California native, correct? It's never a good idea to use a fake license for a state in that state. That type of discussion is beyond the scope of this board, though. It should be common sense.

Apart from the concentric circle patterns, California ID's have a hologram, magnetic strip, and three different UV colors. If you are just doing this for fun, I applaud your hard work and conquering of challenges. You asked for suggestions, and my suggestion is to not do anything illegal with it. If you want to drink, have someone older buy you alcohol. If you're in it for the bars, you're not missing anything except for a thin wallet. It's not all it's cracked up to be.

I'm over 21, and yeah, I'm just doing this for fun, I won't be trying to make any fake ID's.

Alright, as promised, attached is a tarballed xcf file of my creation.

Again, its innacurate-- I don't have the fonts that the DMV uses, so I just chose the closest ones I could. There are font packs on the internet that have attempted to recreate these fonts. I believe one of the font packs is called "nobelcat" or "noblecat", I've seen both spellings, but I have not been able to find them.

I wouldn't try to make an ID with this, as any competent bouncer would spot it as a fake right away, but feel free to play around with it.

I have made many fake IDs, none government issued, though. Most of the people I know who do fake IDs work for the DMV and use real info, the photo being the only deference.
