The very first thing you will need to investigate are any default mailboxes, admin backdoors, etc... in the system you're after. This is the easiest way to start with such a device. You could get really fancy: If the system uses voice, make a tape out of a list of numbers and play it into the phone while recording the call from a separate recorder...

For the voice recordings you'll need to time each response perfectly. I've not tried it yet, but once thought of the idea to get into mailboxes...

With some cell providers-you can just spoof the number and it will drop you into their voice mail without ringing the phone. I was playing around with this the other night. And I know if it is sprint and you are in their vm-they can still access it themselves.

Welcome ceeyu, and we look forward to your participation and advancing the Binrev/DDP community. If you are looking for Sprint/Nextel backdoor vm numbers so that you can retrieve your voicemail messages without running up your minutes, generally speaking you can contact your local Sprint/Nextel store or that store that services the (530)415 exchange. The store nearest you appears to be

Sprint Store
1050 Tharp Road, Suite 100
Yuba City, CA 95993
(530) 790-7297

If they are unable to provide you with the backdoor number, you may try some scanning in that exchange. If memory serves me correctly the last four digits of most VM backdoor
boxes with sprint end in MAIL so try 530-415-MAIL.

RPM, yes this exploit has been widely known and reported back as early as 2001. I assume that the voicemail boxes you were "playing around with the other night" are either your own, or you had authorization from the owner to test their voicemail systems. As it is illegal to access a protected Telco system, and retrieve messages. If you are caught illegally accessing someone else’s voicemail system and the individual/corporation decides to go after you. At the very least you would be looking at civil charges from the individual and if the DA chooses to prosecute you at least two federal counts of unauthorized access.

yea man-I know the laws..
anyways It was a couple of friends and I-which is how I was able to test the ability of two people being in a sprint vm at the same time.
Which also makes me wonder if more than one can be there- is there a cutoff limit?
I also want to find out if most other carries are similar.

The poster is new to the forums and is interested in Nextel backdoor numbers..
I do not think he was aware that most cellular providers have backdoor vm #'s
or did (many providers have discontinued these numbers, as few customers used them)...

Thanks for the replies...

530-415-6245 does not work I've tried couple of other exchanges with the 530 area code... and they are voicemail numbers but I can not access the particular mailbox as it says .... invalid mailbox.

Hmmmm any other thoughts folks?

Did you try contacting the local Sprint/Nextel store and asking them? Or contacting Sprint/Nextel's call center and seeing if they can be of any assistance. In the past, the stores would have a list of local backdoor numbers to provide to customers, who did not want to rack up minutes calling their voicemail. This was several years ago, and since then many of the providers have actually started deactivating these backdoor numbers as unlimited or higher rate packages have become more popular and the general need wasn't there anymore.
**Use it or lose it** ** First the Telco’s deactivate many of the vm backdoor numbers and then take away virtually all payphones**

you misunderstood me..
I read that thread...
this is going a bit off topic but all I was referring to was how many people can be in a box while the owner is also in it at the same time.
btw-in that link - it said you can spoof to a T-mobile celly. You can not do that like you used to.
ah well im Outee-peace-Rpm

RPM I am not aware there is a restriction on the number of users listening to Voicemail messages on a particular system. Also, chances are if you are legitimately trying to
access your own voicemail or conducting a legal penetration test of the vm system the chances of two people being in the same mailbox at the same time are fairly low.

Ok, look I think I can help you, just tell me what state and city you live in and what area code is your nextel, and I'll tell you how to dial the backdoor number.

try poking around in the menus of the phone itself for the voice mail back door number...

they can not take away VMB back door numbers, they might change them due to abuse, or for other internal reasons (such as changing the VMB server or something) but VM is basically just set up as "forward no answer" to the back door number... so most of the time you should be able to find it by looking around in the menus of the cell phone somewhere...

i just tried calling 530-415-6245 (MAIL) and i get the recording "the number or code you have dialed is incorrect..." which i have only heard used on boost/nextel owned lines... are there any other NXX's in the 530 area code that you know belong to nextel? nevermind, i will post the ones that i can find...

according to telcodata.us these belong to nextel....

Cool.. it worked on mine here in 931.
Just dialed my regular phone exchange plus 'MAIL'. Then as prompted, entered my 10 digit cell # + '*' then my 4 digit PIN. Worked like a charm. And my fone didn't ring either.
