I recently decided, based on a joke from a friend that someone's number should be 800-EAT-SHIT, to see if there was a number like that.
I scanned a few prefixes in 303 area code and got this one :
303-EAT-SHIT
DTMF decoded, that's :
303-328-7448
This number just rings about 4 times, then disconnects itself. I've called it several times, on different days, at different hours but it only does this and nothing else.
An internet search on this phone # turns up nothing. Neither did 411.

have you back spoofed the number since nothing came up with a reverse look up?Yeah what's up with numbers that pick up and DTMF their #s out then disconnect? What's this used for? There's a lot of them around me in the 212 NPA.

i found a # that reads back DMTF today, but have not decoded the tones yet... 718-890-1210 (890 is an exchange for verizon numbers only, not subscribers)

641-269-1222 - Feature IVR, voice samples from the DMS' EDRAM. Anybody have any idea what a pilot number is?
303-EAT-SHIT
Maybe it's just going offhook really silently and waiting for touchtones, or some other form of authentication. Also, could it be cellular black route? No, really, they exist. Once I got a MetroPCS non-payment recording trying to call Iowa from a DodgyFon. For those who aren't familiar with a black route, the idea is someone can re-originate a call over something without paying USFs. People will sell minutes on whatever they can get their hands on - cell phones, POTS lines, cable phones, T1s, whatever. If it costs significantly more to make a legitimate call somewhere, odds are there's someone who wants to make a "special carrier arrangement" to bypass those fees. The machines that run POTS black routes will force the line into a permanent signal condition when they're not in use (if you'd like to make a call, please hang up, etc), but with a cell phone, you can't do that. This could be their way of dealing with people who call it back.
EDIT: Almost forgot about this.
515-859-1206 - Is this some sort of class of service readback machine? If you've got a second, tell me what it gives you from whatever you've got handy. This could be an awesome tool if we figure out what it's trying to read back.

metro water rec dist
I could have pulled their address with ease earlier but was not thinking, still can but that's besides the point.. I've never heard a number do this before. answers with dtmf. 1 through 0 seems to answer with two dtmf tones unless you hit * first, and # will disco.
anyone know what this is, or know any similar numbers before I start working on it???

Call in, and it gives you options for a variety of planes somewhere. Selecting a plane or option will give you a recorded message about the status and location of that plane, and make references to various codes about these planes.

540-231-9999 - Biscuit order line? I guess this is something where employees can call to order a biscuit for the next morning. I thought it was kind of funny.
VM was full on Saturday...anyone know if it's chronically full like an abandoned mailbox, or are biscuits very popular at this company....
EDIT- a little googling leads me to believe that this phone number may belong to virginia tech... could it be a special cafeteria service for profs ?

907 372 9999 in Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska
When you call it, you hear what sounds like a bunch of unrelated recording segments pasted together.
"SIT 3 2 1 hang up now. Please hang up. The number you are trying to reach is off. It will remain off - is now on - is now off. Please read the instruction card. For emergencies, please hang up and try again later - at midnight."

It's full! Damn, those must be some good biscuits.
So someone reposted this from an 80's textfile back in 2007;
212-799-5017 ABC NEW YORK FEED LINE
I think this is some kind of hub that distributes TV content to the local ABC channels. Try listening whenever ABC does their news stuff in the morning. The same segment repeats multiple times. Also, you'll hear gems like this;

Also, Qwest has a new AIS - 801-255-0017
Here's some interesting messages from the old one;
