DC3 Challenge is a call to the digital forensics community to pioneer new investigative tools, techniques and methodologies.

A few of the challenges you may face include:

* 100 Level - Novice
o Detect suspicious software
o Hash Analysis
o Image Analysis
o Partition Recovery
o Signature Analysis
* 200 Level - Skilled
o File Header Reconstruction
o Passwprd Recovery
o Registry Analysis
o Simple Steganography
* 300 Level - Expert
o Encryption
o Skype Analysis
o Foreign Text Identification
* 400 Level - Genius
o MSN Live
o Image Analysis
o Foreign Text Translation
o Advanced Steganography

The winning team will receive a trip, based on government per diem (airfare, lodging, meals, and paid conference fees) for up to 4 (four) members to the 2009 Defense Cyber Crime Conference

Each member of the winning team will also receive a plaque as well as formal recognition at the conference.
Rules of Engagement

* Only the first one-hundred teams that submit solutions will be eligible to compete.
* Each team must complete the DC3 Challenge Application.
* Anyone can participate in the Challenge.
* Only U.S. Citizen can attend the DoD Cyber Crime Conference.
* Teams may consist of no more than four members.
* Individuals may participate on one team only.
* You will be required to submit your answers using our standardized forms.
