if im not mistaken, you should be able to install linux on any laptop, providing it finds your hardware or you get drivers

i believe the sony vaio TR series supports gentoo (not sure which kernal) without a hitch.

look, with tweaking you can get it to run on any x86 machine, i mean at least get it to run without graphix/sound/network, but it HAS to basically work on any x86 machine.

ya, any X86 will run linux...
now for all the other hardware you stick in there, thats a different matter sometimes, but really almost anything can be made to work for nix
